University of Mysore is a public state university founded in 1916 in Mysore, Karnataka. It is the 6th oldest university in India which is UGC certified enclosed with 122 affiliated colleges having 37 postgraduate departments, 8 research and training centers and 2 postgraduate centers.

Mysore University Ph.D. Admission 2018-19 Notification with dates, its eligibility criteria, and requirements. The University of Mysore offers Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in a wide range of subjects. More departments affiliated to the University of Mysore as well as other search and Academic institutions in Mysore, Bangalore and other places organized search scholars, facilities to do a search as part of the programme. Selection of Aspirants for admission to Mysore university Ph.D. is based on entrance test and interview organized by the university. Aspirants who have completed the M.Phil course and possess national level fellowships are exempted from the entrance test.

University also provides Ph.D. in different subjects whose list is available on the website of the University of Mysore. For taking admission in Ph.D. applications are invited from Indian nationals.

Eligibility criteria of the above mentioned courses is mentioned below:


  • Aspirants must possess master's degree with 55% marks for GC and 50% marks for SC/ST from recognized university.

Agribusiness – (2 to 5 year):


  • Aspirants must possess MA degree in Ancient History and Archaeology or History.

Education – (2 years (FT), 4 years (PT)):


  • Aspirants must possess M.Ed. degree with 55% marks or equivalent.

Social work:


  • Aspirants must possess a degree in Master of Social Work.

Age limit eligibility:

  • There is no upper age limit for the Ph.D. entrance exam.

Mysore University Ph.D. Entrance Exam Eligibility:-

Aspirants who have secured at least 55% of aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/Cat-1/Physicaly Challenged Aspirants) or equivalent grade affiliated grading system, in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from the recognized Universities/Institutions.

There is no upper age limit for applying for the Ph.D. entrance test.


The Following Aspirants are exempted from the entrance exam and they can apply for Provisional Registration by consulting a guide in the subject of their interest after verifying their eligibility.

(a) Aspirants who have qualified for UGC/CSIR (JRF) Fellowships OR

qualified for Lecturership through UGC/CS IR NET Examination/ K-SET/ GATE OR Government/Aided College Teachers affiliated FIP.

(b) Aspirants who have completed M.Phil course provided their M.Phil course was through an Entrance Examination.

(c) Foreign Nationals with Indian/Foreign Degrees.

Mysore University Ph.D. Entrance Exam 2016 Pattern:-

1. One question paper per subject with one hundred questions (100) with four choices out of which one is the correct answer.

2. Maximum marks shall be 100 (one hundred) and the time available for answering questions shall be 2 (two) hours only.

Selection Procedure

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce

  • Selection of the aspirant will be based on the entrance exam organized by the university.

Admission without entrance test

  • Aspirants who have eligible M. Phil. and have taken admission in it via entrance test are also qualified to take admission in Ph.D. without giving entrance exam.
  • Aspirants who have eligible UGC/CSIR (JRF) Fellowships OR Lectureship via UGC/CSIR NET Examination/ K-SET/ GATE OR Government/Aided College Teachers under FIP can also take admission without entrance test.
  • Aspirants with (Foreign Nationals with Indian/Foreign Degrees) can straight apply for provisional registration without an entrance exam.

Some Note for Aspirants

  1. The entrance test will be held via computer-based only.
  2. RGNF/MANF/Project Fellows are not exempted from Ph.D. Entrance test.
