There are 122 colleges affiliated to it and 5 constituent colleges (forming an aggregate of 53,000 students). In addition, the university has 37 postgraduate departments, 8 specialized research and training centres, and 2 postgraduate centres.
UOM provides admission to the following Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs in distance education method in which aspirants with the relevant qualifying degree (pass in 10+2 for Under Graduate programs and graduate degree for Post Graduate programs) can register. Seats are reserved for people belonging to various categories such as SC/ST/BC etc.

Applications for University of Mysore Distance Programs are accepted throughout the year on a rolling admission basis, although there may be application deadlines fixed for each batch personally.
Aspirants must apply for admission via online registration procedure and submit a finished application. All fields in the application form should be correctly and clearly filled-in with the relevant information.

The aspirant must attach the scanned copies of her/his academic details as well as work experience documents (where need), Community Certificate (For OC aspirants community certificate not need), Certificates for Special categories, if need.
N0TE: Application fees and Registration fees for Indian overseas Nationals is $15 & $35 respectively.
Application fees and Registration fees for SAARC Nationals is INR 300/- & INR 600/- respectively.
Admissions to all the Under Graduate, Post Graduate distance program is straight on the basis of qualifying degree examination.
Scholarships: The UOM has its own special SC/ST cell for the welfare and scholarship schemes for former community aspirants.
