There are seven Nobel laureates affiliated with this university including Ronald Ross, Rabindranath Tagore, C. It has the highest number of students who have completed the doctoral entrance eligibility exam in Natural Science & Arts. V. Raman and Amartya Sen. The university is recognised as one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It was also ranked 2nd by the India Today Top India Universities of 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Rashbehari Shiksha Prangan, Calcutta University, provides the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Programme and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) Programme in different specializations, for the academic year 2018-19. The programme will be based on WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) 2017 and for M.Tech. The applications for B.Tech. The programme will be based on Entrance Exam followed by an Interview. The application procedure for both the Programmes is entirely online and must be finished by February 29th, 2018 for B.Tech. Programme and May 10th, 2018 for M.Tech. Programme.

The University provides the following specializations under the B.Tech. The at least requirement of marks will however not be eligible for admission to Jute and Fibre
For Lateral Entry to 2nd Year:
You must have passed B.Sc. Honours with the subjects specified for various courses as given belowProgramme:-
You must have passed Class XII Examinations in the system of 10+2 under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, securing an average of minimum 60% marks (or equivalent grade) in these subjects and completed West Bengal JEE. ME/M.Tech

If you are from a University other than Calcutta University, you should have secured minimum 60% marks or its equivalent grade in B.Tech level. Programme:-

a valid GATE qualifying score in a relevant subject.
You should submit the Application Form online on the official WBJEEwebsite.
WBJEE Application Form will be broadly categorized into three steps-
You must fill in your Individual Details.
Document Uploading: You will then be directed to Document Uploading. You must upload all the images/documents in jpg/jpeg pattern. The page size of the document should be in A4 pattern. You can take a print out of the Confirmation Page after final submission of the Application for future references. You must upload the following documents and images:
Application Fee: Once the documents are successfully uploaded, the system will enter into the Fee Payment. There is no required to send any document by post.You should pay the Application Fee of Rs. 500 + Bank Service Charges either by Debit Card/Credit Card or by Allahabad Bank challan.
This clears your registration procedure. ME/M.Tech
You must apply for the programme online only on the University website.
You should open the page to M.Tech. Road, Kolkata – 700009You also required not fill the Form in one go, you can save the filled up Form and clear it later.

Once you fill all the details, click on the “Submit” button. Admission to Apply Online and click on the ‘Click here to register’ link at the bottom of the Login form.
If you are a new user of this online system, you will have to register yourself on the website by creating Account with Unique Username and password. You should then take a print out of the Application Form.
Your registration procedure is now clear.
If you are paying by cash, you must send a copy of the e-receipt along with the printed Application Form to the following address:
Office of the Secretary, UCSTA, Calcutta University, 92, A.P.C. This Username/password is very important for all further transactions.
You must then proceed to fill in the form from ‘Individual’ page to Payment info’ page, one after another. You cannot jump to a particular page of the form without filling in the earlier page.
You will be selected on the basis of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2018. Questions in the exam will be of multiple choice/ objective type. There will be two papers. Paper II will be of Physics and Chemistry, also for a period of 2 hours. In both the papers, questions will be classified into three categories – category 1, category 2 and category3.
The category-wise marking scheme is as follows:-
Category 1- For each accurate response, one mark will be honoured. For marking more than 1 response, marks will be deducted.
Category 3- In this section, more than 1 response can be correct.
The exam would be based on class XI, XII Syllabus. There shall also be negative marking with 0.25 marks being deducted for every inaccurate response. Paper, I will be of Mathematics for a period of 2 hours. Negative making will not be done in this section. For marking more than 1 response, marks will be deducted.
Category 2- For each accurate response, 2 marks will be allotted and negative marking of 0.50 marks will be implemented for wrong responses. However, if you mark one accurate and one inaccurate response then no marks will be honoured.
For Lateral Entry:-
You will be selected on the basis of merit.You might have to mark all the accurate responses, for which 2 marks will be honoured. ME/M.Tech
For Full Time:-
You will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test organizeed by the respective Departments of the University, followed by an Interview should you qualify the Entrance Test. There shall be negative marking with 0.5 marks being deducted for each wrong response. The Exam will carry a maximum of 100 marks.A number of questions in each test will be of 50 (marking as 1 to 50) and each question should have four options of responses (marking as A, B, C, and D) of which one will be an accurate response. For each accurate response, 2 marks will be honoured. 70% weightage to be given on the GATE marks obtained (out of 100) and 20 % weightage to be given on marks obtained in the Entrance Test & rest 10% weightage on Interview.
For Part Time:-
Your selection will be based on weightage in Entrance Test marks (50%) + Interview (50%) [ including additional weightage of in-service aspirant (in service aspirant may get maximum 20 marks out of 50 of total interview marks, without service aspirant will get 0 marks out of 20 allotted for in-service criteria].
The Entrance Test will be of MCQ type for a period of one and a half hours.
The reservation criteria will be as per the norms prescribed by the Government of West Bengal.
