The University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore (UAS) is one of the few universities in India which offers specialized undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degree programmes in multiple disciplines of agricultural sciences. Presently, the university provides 9 programmes at Under Graduate level, 21 programmes at Post Graduate level and the research programme i.e. Ph.D. in 34 branches.

The University provides Ph.D. programme in 14 branches including agronomy, agricultural economics, crop physiology, plant biotechnology, sericulture, and forestry. Admission to the above-mentioned programmes is done on the basis of their performance in qualifying examination, and university entrance test.

Aspirants can register themselves for admission to Ph.D. programme by submitting the finished applications, along with the need application fee via Demand Draft (DD).

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Agriculture

Ph.D. is provideed in the following 14 branches:

1. Agricultural Microbiology – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Agricultural Microbiology
  • Aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system

5. Agricultural Extension – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Agricultural Extn. Plant Biotechnology – (4 seats)

    Eligibility:

    • Aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants
    • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
    • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Plant Biotechnology

    10. Forestry & Environmental Science – (4 seats)

    Eligibility:

    • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Environmental Science, M.Sc.(Forestry) with specialization in the branches of Forestry from any SAU.
    • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
    • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.

    NRI aspirant’s eligibility for Doctoral programmes:

    Eligibility: Aspirants should possess master’s degree in the related subject of Agricultural Sciences/Technology with at least CGPA of 7.00 out of 10.00 are applicable for admission to the doctoral degree. Education

4. Agricultural Economics – 6 seats

  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Agricultural Economics

2. Seed Science & Technology – (4 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Seed Science & Technology / Seed Technology.
  • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system

12. Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry.
  • Aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants

14. Plant Pathology – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Plant Pathology.

11. Food Science & Nutrition – (4 seats)

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Food Science & Nutrition.
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system

8. / Extn. Sericulture – (2 seats)

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Sericulture / Agricultural Entomology with specialization in Sericulture/ M.Sc. in Sericulture.

13. Agronomy – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
  • Aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Agronomy

6. Agricultural Entomology – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Agricultural Entomology / Apiculture
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system

3. Crop Physiology – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Crop Physiology / Plant Physiology.
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system

7. Genetics & Plant Breeding – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant should have studied master’s degree with at least CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirant should have studied under Trimester system
  • Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Genetics Plant Breeding / Agricultural Botany/ Plant Breeding.

9. Such aspirants shall also enclose a certificate of English language proficiency like ELTS/TOFEL.


How to Apply to UAS (University of Agricultural Science) Bangalore Ph.D Admissions 2018

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Agriculture

  • Aspirants can register themselves by filling in the online application forms available at the official university website and submitting it upon completion, along with the need application fee
  • The fee shall be paid via Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “Comptroller, UAS, Bangalore” and payable at Bangalore. In addition to this, Rs. 300/- should be deposited in cash towards Group Health Insurance, at the time of counseling


Admission Procedure of UAS Bangalore Ph.D Admissions 2018

  • Selection of the aspirants to the Ph.D. programme will be based on their qualifying examination merit and performance in the entrance test.
  • Merit will be determined by assigning weightage of 50% to academic performance, 45% to written entrance examination and remaining 5% for sports / cultural / NSS / higher OGPA / Research publications / ICAR / CSIR / UGC / DBT  fellowship


Reservation Criteria of UAS Bangalore Ph.D Admissions 2018

  • Reservation of seats for aspirants belonging to SC/ ST/OBC category will be in  accordance with reservation policy stipulated by Government of Karnataka
  • Seats will be reserved for Teachers/Scientists/Officers of UAS University and for physically challenged aspirants
  • If seats reserved for above-mentioned categories are not filled due to non-availability aspirants, they will be transferred to General Merit category
  • Seats shall be reserved in favour of NRI/Children’s of NRI/ NRI sponsored aspirants not exceeding 2 students per department


Important Notes of UAS Ph.D Admissions 2018

Scholarship:

Aspirants shall be honoured University Resident Merit Scholarship of Rs. 1600/-per month during each academic year. It is compulsory for SC/ST students to apply for Government of India Scholarship.

Hostel:

University offers separate hostels for boys and girls and international students. Hostel facility shall be offered on first-cum-first cater basis.
