UAS (University of Agricultural Science) Bangalore is one of the few universities in India which offers specialized undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degree programmes in different disciplines of agricultural sciences. Currently, the university provides 9 programmes at Under Graduate level, 21 programmes at Post Graduate level and the research programme i.e. Ph.D. in 34 branches.

The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) is located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It has two campuses. One is situated at Hebbal and the other is located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway No. 7 with its headquarter at the Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK campus). It is basically an agricultural University offering courses in agriculture, horticulture, sericulture and a number of allied agricultural branches.

The birth of the University dates back to 1899 in the form of an agricultural firm with the area of 30 acres of land. Thereafter, an agricultural school was established in 1913 with an area extending up to 202 acres. The University was established by the then Mysore Government in 1963 through Act No. 22. Finally, it was in the year 1964 (August 21st) that the University was established as UAS Bangalore.


The university provides the following postgraduate (PG) level programmes in different branches:

  • Master of Science (M.Sc.)  - (19 branches)
  • Master of Technology (M. Tech.)
  • Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)

Admission to the abovementioned programmes is done via entrance test organized by this university. Aspirants can register themselves for admission to the Post Graduate programmes by submitting the finished applications, along with the need application fee via Demand Draft (DD).

Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Procedures & Food Engineering – (6 seats)

  • The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in B.Tech. (Agril. Engg.)/ B.E.(Agri.)/ B.Tech. (Food Science & Technology)
  • The aspirant should be studied under (10+2+4) years format with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • The aspirant should have studied minimum duration of 7 academic years in any educational institutions in Karnataka

MBA/PGDM

MBA in Agri. (Food Science &Tech.)/B.Tech. Business Management – (25 seats)

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant should study under (10+2+4) years format with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC aspirants and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST aspirants.
  • Aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/ Agricultural Marketing & cooperation/ Horticulture/ Sericulture/Forestry/ Agricultural Biotechnology / B.Tech. (Agri.Engg.) / Veterinary & Animal Sciences from Agricultural/Horticultural/Veterinary Universities
  • The aspirant should have studied minimum duration of 7 academic years in any educational institutions in Karnataka

M.Sc

The course is provided in 19 branches:

All the 5 branches mentioned above have the same following eligibility criteria:

Eligibility:

  • The student must possess bachelor’s degree in Agriculture / Horticulture / Agri. Biotech. / Forestry / Sericulture.
  • The student should study under (10+2+4) years pattern with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC Students and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST Students.
  • A student should have studied minimum period of 7 academic years in any educational institutions in Karnataka

17. Food Science & Nutrition – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Student must possess bachelor’s degree in Rural Home Science/Agriculture/Horticulture/Sericulture/Forestry/ Agricultural Marketing & Co-operation / B.Tech. (Food Science & Technology)
  • The student should study under (10+2+4) years pattern with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC Students and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST Students.
  • The student should have studied minimum period of 7 academic years in any educational institutions in Karnataka

18. Environmental Science – (6 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Student must possess bachelor’s degree in Forestry/ Agriculture/Horticulture/ Sericulture.
  • A student should be studied under (10+2+4) years pattern with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC Students and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST Students.
  • The student should have studied minimum period of 7 academic years in any educational institutions in Karnataka

19. Horticulture – (10 seats)

Eligibility:

  • Student must possess bachelor’s degree in Forestry/ Agriculture/Horticulture/ Sericulture.
  • The student should study under (10+2+4) years pattern with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC Students and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST Students.
  • The student should have studied minimum period of 7 academic years in any educational institutions in Karnataka

Step to Apply

M.Sc (Agriculture) , M.Sc & ME/M.Tech

  • The fee shall be paid via Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favor of “Comptroller, UAS, Bangalore” and payable at Bangalore. In addition to this, Rs. 300/- should be deposited in cash towards Group Health Insurance, at the time of counseling
  • Aspirants can register themselves by filling in the online application forms available at the official university website and submitting it upon completion, along with the need application fee

Enclosures for Indian aspirants:

  1. Caste/ Income certificate (if applicable)
  2. Mark card certificate
  3. Attested photo identity card.

Enclosures for NRI aspirants:

  1. CV/ Bio-data
  2. Attested copies of educational documents.

Admission Procedure

M.Sc (Agriculture) , M.Sc & ME/M.Tech

  • Selection of the aspirants for all the above-mentioned Post Graduate programmes will be based on their qualifying examination merit and performance in the entrance test.

MBA/PGDM

Selection of the aspirants for MBA programme will be based on their performance in group discussion and interview

Admission process for M.Sc, M.Tech at University of Agricultural Sciences, [UAS]:

The candidates opting for Masters degree, admissions is facilitated through counseling-cum-admission. The candidates are advised to attend the counseling-cum-admission with original documents and the necessary DD is drawn in a favor of the Comptroller,  University of Agricultural Sciences, [UAS], GKVK, Bengaluru.

Enclosures for Indian candidates:

  • Caste/ Income certificate (if applicable)
  • Mark card certificate
  • Attested photo identity card.

Reservation Criteria

  • Seats shall be reserved in favor of NRI/Children’s of NRI/ NRI sponsored aspirants not exceeding 2 students per department
  • If seats reserved for above-mentioned categories are not filled due to non-availability aspirants, they will be transferred to General Merit category
  • Reservation of seats for aspirants belonging to SC/ ST/OBC category will be in  accordance with reservation policy stipulated by Government of Karnataka
  • 5 Seats will be reserved for sports and other activities aspirants (2 for sports, 2 for cultural, 1 for NSS) for Post Graduate programmes
  • Seats will be reserved for Teachers/Scientists/Officers of UAS University and for physically challenged aspirants

Notes

Scholarship:

Aspirants shall be honored University Resident Merit Scholarship of Rs. 1600/-per month during each academic year. It is compulsory for SC/ST students to apply for Government of India Scholarship.

Hostel:

University offers separate hostels for boys and girls and international students. Hostel facility shall be offered on first-cum-first cater basis.
