Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth (TMV) is a deemed University situated at Pune, Maharashtra. It was founded in 1921 and named after popular freedom fighter and nationalist Lokmanya Tilak. It is certified under section 3 of UGC act 1956 by the government of India. University provides different research programs with excellent infrastructure:

  • Ph.D. (in 13 branches)
  • M.Phil. (in 9 branches)

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts & M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

Programmes under Ph.D. course – (5 years):

Geography:

Eligibility: Aspirant must possess MA/ M.Sc. degree in Geography and allied Sciences with the completion of entrance examination, which is compulsory.

Education:

Eligibility

  • The aspirant must possess master’s degree from recognised university with at least 55% marks in the relevant field.
  • 5% relaxation will be given to reserved category aspirants.

Vidyavachaspati Indology:

Eligibility: Aspirant must be post graduate in Indology with at least 55% marks.

Vidyavachaspati Sanskrit:

Eligibility: Aspirant must be post graduate in Sanskrit with at least of 55% marks.

Economics:

Eligibility:

  • 5% relaxation will be given to physically disabled aspirants.
  • The aspirant with 55 years of age or above having post-graduation degree with 55% of marks is applicable to apply.
  • An aspirant must possess post graduation degree examination from recognised university with at least 55% marks in relevant fields.
  • An aspirant must possess M.A/ M.Phil. degree in Economics with 55% marks (for open category aspirants) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants).
  • An aspirant must have work experience in which the area of research is proposed.

Vidyavachaspati in History:

Eligibility

  • An aspirant must pass post-graduation degree with 55% marks (for open category aspirants) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants).
  • The aspirant with 55 years of age or above having post-graduation degree with 55% of marks is applicable to apply.
  • 5% relaxation will be given to physically disabled aspirants.
  • An aspirant must have work experience in which the area of research is proposed.
  • The aspirant must possess post-graduation degree examination from recognised university with at least 55% of marks in relevant fields.

Library Science:

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant must have basic knowledge of Computers and English language.
  • The aspirant must possess Master’s degree in Library and Information science from any recognised university.

Political Science:

Eligibility:

  • An aspirant with 55 years of age or above having post-graduation degree with 55% marks is applicable to apply.
  • The aspirant must possess post-graduation degree examination from recognised university with at least 55% of marks in relevant fields.
  • The aspirant must have passed post-graduation degree with 55% marks (for open category aspirants) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants).
  • 5% relaxation will be given to physically disabled aspirants.
  • The aspirant must have work experience in which the area of research is proposed.

Sociology:

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant must have work experience in which the area of research is proposed.
  • The aspirant must have passed post-graduation degree with 55% marks (for open category aspirants) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants).
  • The aspirant must possess post-graduation degree examination from recognised university with at least 55% of marks in relevant fields.
  • 5% relaxation will be given to physically disabled aspirants.
  • Foreign aspirants must have 50% or equivalent GPA.
  • An aspirant with 55 years of age or above having post-graduation degree with 55% of marks is applicable to apply.

Ayurveda:

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant must have done council registration.
  • The aspirant must have done MD (Ayurveda) in the related subject and must pass an entrance examination.

Mass media:

Eligibility: Aspirant must have done Master’s degree with 55% marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for SC/ST aspirants)

Management:

Eligibility: Aspirants must have done masters degree/M.Phil in Management with 55%  marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants).

Social work:

Eligibility:

  • An aspirant must complete the entrance examination and interview.
  • The aspirant must possess Masters degree in social work.

Programmes under M.Phil course:

Geography:

Eligibility: Aspirants must possess MA degree in Geography with 55% of marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants)

Economics:

Eligibility: Aspirants must possess MA degree in economics with 55% marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants), M.Sc. and M.Com students are also applicable.

History:

Eligibility: Aspirant must have done post-graduation in any faculty with at least of 55% of marks.

Library & Information Sciences:

Eligibility: Aspirant must have done master degree in library and information science of any recognised university but preference will be given to aspirants having the additional qualification and work experience.

Political Sciences:

Eligibility: Aspirants must possess MA degree in Political science with 55% of marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants); M.Sc and M.Com students are also applicable

Sociology:

Eligibility: Aspirant must have done post-graduation degree with at least of 50% of marks and 50% marks (for reserved category aspirants).

Ayurveds:

Eligibility:

  • The aspirant must have done council registration.
  • candidate must have done MD (Ayurveda) in concern subject and must pass entrance exams.

Management:

Eligibility:

  • Foreign aspirants must obtain a master degree from any Indian recognised university.
  • The aspirant must have pass post-graduation degree with minimum 55% of marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for reserved category) by recognised university.

Social Work:

Eligibility:

  • Foreign aspirants must obtain a master degree from any Indian recognised university.
  • An aspirant must have pass post-graduation degree with minimum 55% of marks (for open category) and 50% marks (for reserved category) by recognised university.

TMV M. Phil. & Ph.D. Admission 2018 Application Procedure

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts & M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

  • The aspirant must submit the application form and all the enclosures at the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth or from the Vidyapeeth Premises of the Vidyapeeth
  • The aspirant must pay the examination fees by DD of any nationalized bank which is payable at Pune in favor of 'The Registrar’, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune.
  • The aspirant should give the presentation on the thesis.
  • The aspirant must submit attested Xerox copy of bank deposit challan on the day of the interview
  • The aspirant can register themselves to the above mentioned M.Phil. & Ph.D. courses by submitting the entrance examination fees of Rs. 3000/-.
  • The aspirant must obtain prospectus either from the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth or from the Vidyapeeth Campuses / Administrative Offices of the Vidyapeeth
  • The aspirant must appear for individual interview before selection committee and selection will depend on performance at interview.
  • Aspirants can take admission at the headquarters in Pune or at any Premises of Vidyapeeth.
  • Aspirant will get admission only on the basis of eligibility criteria and competence of entrance examination.

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts & M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

  • Selection of the aspirant is based on merit in the entrance examination and the interview organized by the university.
  • Selection of the foreign aspirants is done by RRC on the basis of eligibility criteria.

Scholarship: Scholarship is given via social welfare department of Maharashtra Government for SC/ST students.

Hostel:

  • The medical officer is present on the campus at all times.
  • University offers separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls which have the capacity of 48 students in boys hostel and 96 students in girls hostel.
