The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) was founded in June 1945 with the active support of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. In 1962, the Institute shifted to its present campus at Colaba, on the shores of the Arabian Sea. In May 2002, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research was declared a deemed university by University Grants Commission.
In addition to the Integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. in different branches, the university provides Ph.D. in Science Education programme to its students every year. The aspirant is shortlisted for admission to the above mentioned course on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination organized by the university.
The aspirant can register themselves to the above mentioned course by submitting the examination fee of Rs. 400/- via online payment modes or demand draft (DD).

The aspirant must possess the post-graduate degree in M.Sc. (in any subject), M.S.W., M.A. (in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Education) or B.Tech./B.E./ M.B.B.S. or equivalent degree from this university or any other recognised university.

Online Application Procedure:
For online submission of the application, aspirants need to follow the following steps:
Selection of the aspirants for Ph.D. in science education programme will be based on the rank in the merit list of entrance examination, to be organized by the university. Those who qualify will be intimated for the interview round.
