Thiruvallavur University was founded in 2002 in a bid to promote higher education in the state of Tamil Nadu. The University provides MA and M.Sc. in its post-graduate academic curriculum. The PG programs cover a wide variety of branches in the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams.
Aspirants with an undergraduate degree in a relevant branch are qualified to apply for the MA and M.Sc. courses. The University follows the reservation policy prescribed by Tamil Nadu government.
The admission procedure for Post Graduate programs at Thiruvalluvar University starts in the month of June each year. The application form can be downloaded from the University website. The merit list for admission to the Master’s programme is prepared on the basis of marks scored in Qualifying Examination and Entrance Examination held by the University.

The essential eligibility for admission to Post Graduate courses is that a aspirant must hold an undergraduate degree, preferably from Thiruvalluvar University. There is no age limit for applying to Post Graduate courses at Thiruvalluvar University.
Aspirants who have passed a three-year degree course under the 10+1+3 or 10+2+2 or 11+1+2 format of examination are not qualified to apply for Post Graduate courses at Thiruvalluvar University.
Thiruvalluvar University provides MA degree in an array of subjects. The list of subjects available in MA degree course along with their eligibility is given below:
An undergraduate degree in Tamil from Thiruvalluvar University
Or an undergraduate degree in any stream with Tamil as a subject in part II with a minimum of 55% marks
Or any other equivalent degree accepted by Thiruvalluvar University
A BA degree examination in English from Thiruvalluvar University
Or A B.Sc. degree with English as a subject in Part II
Or B.Com./BBA/BCA/BCS and any other such degree with one year part II English where the aspirant has scored a minimum of 55% marks
Or any other degree which ia accepted by Thiruvalluvar University as equivalent to the degrees mentioned above.
A BA degree in Economics/ Corporate Economics/Business Economics
Or B.Com./B.Sc. Mathematics/B.Sc. Statistics/BBA
Or any other degree accepted as equivalent by Thiruvalluvar University

The Application Procedure for Post Graduate courses begin in the month of June. Aspirants applying for admission to Post Graduate programs have to pay an application fee of 200 INR. The bank details for application fee submission is given below:

The aspirant must send the original bank challan with the UTR number along with the application form. The aspirant must also send This amount should be remitted via NEFT or RTGS method in the Indian Overseas Bank.

The subscription on top of the letter should read Application for admission to University Department.
The application forms can be downloaded from the Thiruvalluvar University’s website. The application fee is 100 INR for aspirants belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes.
The University takes admission to its Post Graduate courses on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination as well as performance in Entrance Examination organizeed by University. The Entrance examinations will be organizeed in the respective departments of the courses to which the aspirant has applied for at the Thiruvalluvar University, Serkkadu, Vellore-115. The respective weightage given to qualifying examination and entrance examination is 50%.
The syllabus for entrance test for Post Graduate courses will be the same as the undergraduate syllabus for the subject applied at Thiruvalluvar University. The number of seats available at each department and their selection process is based on the Reservation policy as upheld by the government of Tamil Nadu.
The Thiruvalluvar University recognizes the reservation policy prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The list of reserved categories and the corresponding percentage of seat reservation is given below:
|Backward Classes including 3.5% for Muslims||30%|
|Most Backward Classes and De-notified Communities||20%|
|Scheduled Caste including 3% for Arunthathiyars and 1% for Scheduled Tribes (ST)||18%|

Note: Any aspirant from states other than Tamil Nadu shall be considered under Open Competition except those belonging to the SC/ST category.
