Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul is deemed university in the state of Tamil Nadu, founded to carry on Mahatma Gandhi’s revolutionary concept of ‘Nai Talim’. The institute is focused on providing education in the rural education and the courses are designed to work for the better of the rural education and rural industries.

GRI provides 4 undergraduate courses, 6 Postgraduate courses, 1 integrated course and 3 Post Graduate Diplomas in the fields of Arts, Education, Science, Engineering and Management. Admission to all the Under Graduate programs start around the end of higher secondary examinations in Tamil Nadu.

Admission to all the Under Graduate program is based on merit.

Eligibility Criteria for The GRI (Gandhigram Rural University) UG Admissions 2018

The eligibility criteria for various courses provideed by GRI has been explained below:


GRI provides the following B.Tech programs:

  • Civil Engineering (Habitat Development) – Lateral Entry
  • Civil Engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

  • For B.Tech (Civil Engineering): A pass in Higher Secondary Examinations (10+2) with at least 45%marks taken together in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (40% in case of aspirants belonging to SC/ST Categories)
  • Age Limit: 21 Years


For Lateral Entry Program: one must have passed diploma in Civil Engineering from an AICTE approved institution with a at least of 45% marks OR A pass in B.Sc. degree from a recognised university as defined by UGC with a at least of 45% marks, with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Higher Secondary (40% in case of aspirants belonging to SC/ST).


B.Sc. Degree at GRI is provideed in the following branches:

  • Mathematics
  • Textiles and Fashion Design
  • Home Science
  • Chemistry
  • Agriculture
  • Physics

Eligibility Criteria:

  • One must have passed his/her higher secondary education with an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/Computer Science/Home Science
  • Age Limit: 21 Years


Eligibility Criteria:

  • The at least basic eligibility for admission to the B.Ed. the program is a graduation degree, one must have obtained their graduation degree from GRI.
  • Age Limit: 24 Years

How to apply for The GRI UG Admissions 2018?

  • By making a cash payment at the office of the Deputy Registrar of academics in person


Application Fee:

Registration Fee for all Diploma/UG/Post Graduate Diploma/PG/M.Phil. Programs: Rs. 180 (Rs. 220 by post).

There are no registration fees for participants belonging to SC/ST categories.

Admission Procedure of The GRI (Gandhigram Rural University) UG Admissions 2018

The admission procedure for each various course provideed at GRI is various from the other, here are the details:


Admission to the B.Tech Program at GRI will be based on the aspirant’s performance in the entrance test organizeed by the institute.

Date of the Entrance test: June 14, 2018 (tentative)


Admission to the B.Ed. the program at GRI will be based on participant’s performance in the graduation degree examinations. Admission will only be granted to aspirants who obtained their graduation degree from GRI, other applications will be summarily rejected.


Admission to all the Undergraduate/bachelor degree programs will be made on the basis of marks scored in the higher secondary examinations or equivalent examinations via counseling.

Reservation Criteria


  • Age Relaxation for SC/ST aspirants: 3 Years
  • For all Indian students, admission will be made subject to the reservation policy of the Government of India.
  • Application forms are free for aspirants belonging to SC/ST category.
