Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, founded in the year 1993, under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, as a modern super speciality hospital, and was granted the status of a university in the year 1995 by an act of A.P. State legislature. Latest technology in the diagnostic wing and total computer automation of patient care has been implemented in this institution for the first time in our Country.  The major objectives of SVIMS comprise service, training and education in advanced medical sciences and technology.

SVIMS has been recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI) since 2003 for organizing different DM, MCh and MD courses. The government of India has also comprised SVIMS as one of the institutions for the up-gradation at par with AIIMS, New Delhi under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.

The University invites Applications for admission to the Postgraduate Programmes of M.Sc. (Nursing), Master of Physiotherapy (MPT), M.Sc. Programme and Postgraduate Diploma Programme for the academic year 2017-18. The admission to the courses will be based on the Entrance Exam organizeed by the SVIMS University which will be held on June 20th, 2017, various for each course.

Eligibility Criteria for SVIMS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences) PG Admission 2018

M.Sc (Nursing)

  • You should have an at least one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  • You should medically fit.
  • The aspirants qualifying post basic B.Sc. (Nursing) from IGNOU via distance education are also applicable, if the study centre is recognised by INC.
  • You should have passed B.Sc. Nursing or B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with an at least of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination from an institution which is recognised by Indian Nursing Council.
  • You should be a registered nurse and registered midwife or equivalent with any state nursing registration council.

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

  • You should have passed Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from a recognised institute. You should also have finished your internship at the time of applying.
  • If you will be completing internship on or before July 7th, 2017, you are also applicable to apply subject to submission of the declaration signed by you and the Principal from the college where you are doing your internship.

M.Sc

For Medical Anatomy and Medical Physiology: You should have passed B.Sc. Degree in life sciences with Chemistry, Zoology as one of the optional subjects or MLT or BPT.

For Medical Biochemistry and Medical Microbiology: You should have passed B.Sc. Degree in life sciences with Chemistry, Zoology as one of the optional subjects or B.Sc. with MLT

For Biotechnology: You should have passed B.Sc. Degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry as one of the optional subjects or - B.Pharm / B.Tech in Biotechnology or Bioinformatics.

For Bioinformatics: You should have passed B.Sc. Degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry as one of the optional subjects or - B.Pharm / B.Tech in Biotechnology or Bioinformatics; or B.Sc. Physics or Chemistry with Computer Science as one of the optional subjects.

For Cardiovascular Technology: You should have passed B.Sc. Degree in ECG & CVT or B.Sc. Degree with 2 year Post Graduate Diploma in ECG & CVT.

Post Graduate Diploma Programme

The University provides the following specializations under the PG Diploma Programme:

  • Medical Records Science
  • Dialysis Technology

Eligibility Criteria

For Dialysis Technology: You should have passed the B.Sc. Life Sciences examination.

For Medical Records Science: You should have any graduation


Application Process for SVIMS PG Admission 2018

You can obtain the Application Form along with the Prospectus in the following ways:

  • Online: You can also download the Application Form from the website. In this case, you shall have to pay the Application fee of Rs.500 (Rupees one thousand only) by way of Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “The Director, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati” at the time of the final submission of the Form.
  • By Post: You can also obtain the Application Form by post on submission of a Demand Draft for Rs.550 (Rupees one thousand and fifty only) along with self-addressed request letter.
  • In Person: You can obtain the Application Form from the Office of the Registrar, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati - 517 507 on payment of Rs.500 (Rupees one thousand only) by way of Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “The Director, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati”.

You should fill the Form clearly in your own handwriting in Block Letters. You should not leave any column blank or incomplete.

You must affix a recent passport size colour photograph in the space offered.

You should prominently specify the name of the course for which application is made, on the top of the relevant column of the application.

Selection Procedure of SVIMS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences) PG Admission 2018

M.Sc (Nursing)

Your selection will be based on the merit obtained in the Entrance Test organizeed by SVIMS University, at B.Sc. (Nursing) standard prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council. The period of the examination shall be 90 minutes.

The test will have 100 questions of multiple choice pattern having four options, one of which would be correct.

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

Your selection will be based on the Entrance Test organizeed by SVIMS University, at BPT standard. The period of the examination shall be 90 minutes. The test will have 100 questions of multiple choice pattern having four options, one of which would be correct.

M.Sc

For M.Sc. Programme and Post Graduate Diploma Programme:

Your selection will be based on the merit in the Entrance Test organizeed by SVIMS University.

You have to choose either Option-1 or Option-2 for entrance test and mention in the application form. The period of the examination shall be 90 minutes. The test will have 100 questions of multiple choice pattern having four options, one of which would be correct.

Option 1: Biological Sciences & Chemistry: The syllabus for the entrance test shall be on the subjects of Botany, Zoology, Microbiology and Biotechnology which will carry 15 marks each and chemistry for 40 marks.

Option 2: Physics & Chemistry: The syllabus for the entrance test shall be on the subjects of Physics and chemistry for 50 marks each.


Reservation for SVIMS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences) PG Admission 2018

The statutory reservations will be eligible to the aspirants of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes belonging to the State of Andhra Pradesh only.

  • Admission to 85% of the seats shall be reserved in favour of the local aspirants in relation to S.V University region comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Cuddapah and Nellore in the following distribution:

  • There shall be 3% reservation (horizontal basis) for differently-abled (PH) with a locomotive disability of lower limbs between 50% - 70%.
  • 33.33% of seats are guaranteed for women aspirants in each category i.e. open competition, SC, ST, BC and other reservations.
