Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, known as SASTRA University, is a deemed university which provides undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses in different streams such as Engineering, Science, Education, Management, and Arts.

The university has several schools which provide admission to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)/ 5-year integrated M.Tech. programme in over 14 branches. Students are admitted to B.Tech programmes/ 5-year integrated M.Tech. programme via the following two ways:

  • First, is via JEE (Mains) score and 10+2 normalized marks (70% of the total seats) and,
  • Second, is via direct entry selection by normalized marks of 10+2 examinations. (30% of the total seats)

Qualified aspirants can fill the prescribed application form of the university, make the need payment and appear for the Joint Entrance Examination Mains (JEE Mains) to be organized in the first week of April. Application form for students who wish to apply via direct entry criterion as well as entrance examination criterion will be the same.

SASTRA University B.Tech Admissions 2018 Eligibility Criteria

BE/B.Tech

For admissions to the B.Tech./ Integrated M.Tech. programmes, one should qualify the following criteria:

  • The aspirant should not be more than 18 years of age as on 1 July 2016
  • The aspirants should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized state or central board of education with mathematics and physics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Biology, computer science with a minimum of 60% aggregate in these subjects 

For lateral entry in the B.Tech. programmes, one should qualify the following criteria:

  • Under Lateral Entry scheme, the aspirant should be more than 20 years as on 1 July 2018
  • The student who has finished one-year diploma in engineering/technology organized by a recognized board of management are qualified for Lateral admissions considering he/she is satisfying the conditions of aggregate percentage and age limits as prescribed by the university

SASTRA University B.Tech Admissions 2018 How To Apply?

BE/B.Tech

  • Aspirants should duly fill-in the application form with the relevant details, upload a recent passport size image and digital signature with the size limits as permitted by the university
  • Aspirants can download the online application form, prospectus etc. from the university website or can obtain it in person from the Office of Admission in the SASTRA University campus in Thanjavur
  • Aspirants should also pay the registration fee of INR 650 via online credit/ debit card payment modes. The fee can also be submitted via demand draft (DD) favouring SASTRA at the Office of Admission in Thanjavur
  • Application forms are also available at selected disciplines of Indian Overseas Bank and City Union Bank, the details for the same can be looked upon at the official website

After the aspirant has been selected, he/she must bring the following documents at the counseling session:

  • Transfer Certificate
  • Organize Certificate from the head of institution where last studied
  • 10+2 Marksheet
  • Recent coloured passport sized photographs
  • Score Card of Entrance Examination
  • Migration Certificate ( if applicable )

Also, the following original documents must be submitted at the time of admission:

  • 10+2 Marksheet
  • 10+2 Certificate of examination
  • Scorecard of Entrance Examination
  • Migration Certificate
  • Provisional Certificate

SASTRA University B.Tech Admissions Procedure 2018

BE/B.Tech

Of the total available seats in the B.Tech. programme, 70% will be filled by the students who appear for JEE (Mains).  Aspirants will be shortlisted on the basis of entrance examination marks and the performance of the aspirant in 10+2 qualifying examination as per the following weightage:

Admission to remaining 30% seats will be done via direct entry scheme on the basis of 10+2 normalized marks. A list will be generated by the university by normalizing the +2 marks of the aspirants and will be invited to the counseling session.

Note: A student if admitted via the first criterion of selection by entrance can also sit for counseling session of the students who got selected via direct entry scheme if he/she wishes to change the discipline of study

SASTRA University B.Tech Admissions 2018 Reservation Criteria

To make a level field by providing admissions to students of various states and districts, following is the reservation format followed by the university:

  • 50% of the seats will be given to the students who finished their 10 and 10+2 within Tamil Nadu
  • Remaining 30% seats will be provideed to students who finished their 10+2 from outside of Tamil Nadu
  • Of the total seats, 20% (10%+10% from both the admission processes) are reserved for students who have finished their 10 and 10+2 education from Trichy and Thanjavur districts
