Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha is a deemed university which was founded in 1956. It is also re-accredited by NAAC with A grade. The university was certified under UGC Act of section 3 in the field of higher learning in Sanskrit studies, Traditional Sastras, and Sanskrit Teacher Education.

University provides different undergraduate (UG) programmes mentioned below:

Undergraduate course:

  • Prak-Sastri
  • Sastri Sammanita – (3 years)
  • Sastri Vedabhashyam and Vedic Studies – (3 years)
  • B.A. Honours – (3 years)
  • B.Sc. (Sastri) – (3 years)
  • Siksha Sastri (B.Ed.)

The aspirant can get admission to all the above-mentioned courses via interview. Admission to Siksha Sastri (B.Ed.) course is based on CSSET-2018 entrance test organized by the university. CSSET-2018 is an abbreviation for “Combined Shiksha Shastri Entrance test”.

Aspirants can register themselves to the above-mentioned courses by submitting the application fee via DD of amount Rs. 200/-.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Shastri)

Prak-Sastri:

Eligibility

Aspirant must have passed in one of the following examinations with minimum five or six papers and marks obtained should be 500 and above with English as one paper:

  • Candidate must have cleared S.S.C./CBSE/NOS course with or without Sanskrit and pass in ABHIJNA of Samskrita Bhasha Pracharini Sabha, Chittoor is also required.
  • Aspirants must have cleared Purva Madhyama course of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi or Sampoornananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi
  • Aspirants who possess S.S.C without Sanskrit are also qualified to join the programme
  • Aspirants must have cleared any examination recognized as equivalent to X class with Sanskrit
  • Aspirants must have cleared Sanskrit Entrance Examination organized by the Govt. of A.P with English
  • Aspirant must have cleared S.S.C./CBSE/NOS course with or without Sanskrit and pass in ABHIJNA of Samskrita Bhasha Pracharini Sabha, Chittoor is also need.

Age limit eligibility

  • Aspirants’ age should be 15 to 18 years as on 01-06-2018.
  • There is no upper age limit for female aspirants.

Sastri Sammanita:

Eligibility

Aspirants must have passed in any one of the following examinations in 10+2 pattern which are as below:

  • Aspirants must have cleared Prak-Sastri course of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati or Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi
  • Aspirants must have cleared Uttara Madhyama course of Sampoornananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi or Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi.
  • Aspirants must have cleared Madhyama course of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
  • Aspirants must have cleared Varishtopadhyaya course of Rajasthan Board of Intermediate Education, Ajmer
  • Aspirants must have cleared Upasastri course of Sree Jagannatha Sanskrit University, Puri or Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University, Darbhanga
  • Aspirants must have cleared Sahitya course of Karnataka State.
  • Aspirants must have cleared Veda Vibhushan course of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Sanskrit Vedavidya Pratishtan, Ujjain
  • Aspirants must have cleared intermediate or equivalent examination with Sanskrit or Vichakshana of Samskrita Bhasha Pracharini Sabha, Chittoor, of + 2 stage in 10+2+3 Pattern conducted by a State Board/University/Institute recognized by Vidyapeetha

Age limit eligibility

Aspirants’ age must be minimum of 17 years as on 01-06-2018

B.A. Honours:

Eligibility

The aspirant must have passed in any one of the following examinations in 10+2 format which are as below:

  • Aspirants must have passed Samhita (Rigveda/ Krishna Yajurveda/Shukla Yajurveda/Samaveda & Atharvaveda) course and have some knowledge of Sanskrit
  • The aspirant must have cleared Sahitya course of Karnataka State.
  • The aspirant must have cleared Prak-Sastri course of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati or Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi
  • The aspirant must have passed 12th or knowledge of English is not mandatory.
  • The aspirant must have cleared Madhyama course of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
  • The aspirant must have cleared Varishtopadhyaya course of Rajasthan Board of Intermediate Education, Ajmer
  • The aspirant must have cleared Uttara Madhyama course of Sampoornananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi or Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi.

Step To Apply

BA

  • Candidates can download application form and prospectus from university website “http://rsvidyapeetha.ac.in”
  • Candidates can also obtain the application form by post after submitting the amount of Rs. 250/- by DD in favor of The Registrar, R.S.Vidyapeetha, Tirupati payable at Tirupati
  • Candidates have to submit their filled in application form along with prospectus in person by DD of amount Rs. 200 from any Nationalised bank drawn in favor of The Registrar, R.S.Vidyapeetha, Tirupati payable at Tirupati or challan in the Andhra Bank, R.S.Vidyapeetha branch, Tirupati
  • Incomplete applications received after the due date will be rejected
    • Candidate must attend the interview with original documents and 3 sets of photocopies of documents on specified date and time.
    • If the candidate is not present physically, the candidate will lose their seat.
    • Candidate admission will be confirmed after the interview and written test conducted by the university.

Admission Procedure

Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (RS Vidyapeeth), Tirupati offers regular, evening and part-time programmes to aspirants at the ug (undergraduate), pg (postgraduate) and doctorate (Ph.D.) level. The University offers a wide range of programmes in the Sanskrit language as well as literature, Traditional Sastras, and Sanskrit Teacher Education. Aspirants can also pursue career-oriented courses here. Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth provides Aspirants with a combination of Traditional Sastras with modern subjects like Computer Science, Mathematics, History etc., at Sastri/BA, BSc and Prak Sastri level.
Also, one unique feature of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati is that Sanskrit is the medium of instruction of Traditional Sastras.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria for undergraduate & Postgraduate Courses
To secure admission in undergraduate courses, Aspirants need to be minimum of 17 years of age and should have cleared any of qualifying exam in a 12th pattern that is mentioned by the University in the prospectus. -->
For postgraduate course admissions, aspirants should be of at least 20 years of age and should have cleared three-year degree course/Sastri in respective subjects.

Note: Aspirants are advised to undergraduates go, undergraduates, the eligibility criteria as mentioned by Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati in the prospectus for the course in which they wish to secure admission.
Aspirants can secure admission in courses provided at the University as per rules governing eligibility, merit, good conduct etc., which is determined by the Vidyapeetha from time to time and also according to rules existing on the date of actual admission after an interview.

Aspirants who have not studied Sanskrit at the qualifying exam level and who are seeking admission in courses at the University need to appear for Entrance Exam in Sanskrit conducted by RS Vidyapeeth, Tirupati.

BA

  • Selection of the aspirants to the above-mentioned courses is done on the basis of interview organized by the university. 
  • Selection of the aspirants to the Siksha Sastri (B.Ed.) course is done via CSSET-2018 entrance test. 

Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha Fee Structure

Reservation Seat

Reservation of seats in the university is as per the existing norms of UGC or by the government of India. Seat reservation in different categories are as follows:-

  • 27% seats are reserved for the OBC category aspirants.
  • 15% seats are reserved for the SC aspirants and 7½% seats are reserved for the ST category aspirants.
  • 3% seats are reserved for the person with a disability and few seats are also reserved for the children of the employees of the Vidyapeetha

Notes 

Scholarship

  • Aspirant will get scholarship on the basis of their percentage of marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • 25 students from Prak-Sastri, 5 from each Sastra at Sastri level and 10 from each Sastra at Acharya level will be honored Scholarship as per rules
  • The scholarship will be given only for 10 months in a year.

Hostel

  • University offers 4 hostels for men aspirants and separate 3 hostels for research aspirants
  • University also offers separate hostel for women aspirant.
