Presidency University, Kolkata, earlier known as Hindu College was founded in 1917. Application for the registration of entrance exam will be available on official website. The college provides undergraduate, integrated, postgraduate courses as well as part-time and full-time PhD programs.
Presidency University, Kolkata offers PhD specialization in 3 streams i.e. Engineering, Science & Humanities and Management. For admission to PhD program, the university will organize an entrance exam and interview round at its campus. The total PhD seats provideed are 129. It is a private university and includes 7 schools and a college.

Instructions for Part-time Internal and External
University offers PhD program for full-time aspirants as well as part-time aspirants. For admission to the course, aspirants must follow the instructions mentioned below.
The aspirant must be a full-time employee of Presidency Group of Institutions.
Aspirant will be given leave for the period of one academic term of the University to clear the compulsory PhD. coursework requirements.
Admission form will be available on university’s official website.
Checklist of Documents (2 copies of the documents must be submitted along with the application form).

2. Proposed Research Summary
The selection will be on the basis of the entrance test followed by an interview. The interview/viva-voce procedure shall consist of assessing the aspirant on the basis his brief research proposal (of about 500 words) to the interview panel. Aspirants must obtain an at least of 50% marks in aggregate, or the at least equivalent grade decided by the university in the entrance test to qualify for the interview.
Interview/Viva-Voce: Qualification in the entrance test will be followed by an interview organizeed by the respective Departmental PhD committee of the University. Appearing in the test does not qualify aspirant for admission to the course, they must qualify the need cut- off.
Entrance Test: University will organize Ph.D. Entrance Test. The proposal should highlight the participant’s area of interest and an overview of his/her intended direction of research.
