National Museum Institute (NMI) is an autonomous university which was founded in January 1989. The university is situated at Janpath, New Delhi. The university was given a status of deemed university in April 1989.

The university provides Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme in the following 3 branches:

  • Conservation – 4 seats
  • History of Art – 4 seats
  • Museology – 4 seats

Aspirants can get admission to the Ph.D course on the basis of written test and interview organizeed by Research Advisory Committee of the university. Interested aspirants can register themselves to the MA course by submitting the fee amount of Rs. 300/- (which comprises registration fee of Rs. 200 + admission fee of Rs. 100).

Foreign aspirant or NRI’s can register themselves to the above-mentioned research courses by submitting the fee of amount $100.

Eligibility Criteria for NMI (National Museum Institute) Ph.D Admissions 2018

History of Art:

  • Aspirants working in service personnel with Central Government with minimum 5 years regular service will also be applicable to apply.
  • Aspirants should possess masters degree in History of Art from this university or equivalent university in History of Art/ History/ Archaeology/Anthropology/ Aesthetics with at least 55% of marks

Museology:

  • Aspirants must possess masters degree in History of Art from this university or equivalent university in Museology/ History/ Ancient Indian History & Archaeology/History of Art with at least 55% of marks
  • Aspirants who working in service personnel with Central Government with minimum 5 years regular service will also be applicable to apply.

Conservation:

  • Aspirants should possess masters degree in History of Art from this university or equivalent university in Chemistry/ Physics/ Life Sciences/ Museology/ Architecture with at least 55% of marks
  • Aspirants working in service personnel with Central Government with minimum 5 years regular service will also be applicable to apply.


How to Apply for NMI (National Museum Institute) Ph.D Admissions 2018

  • Aspirant must have to download the application form available at the university website
  • Aspirants must submit separate application form for taking admission into more than one subject
  • The aspirant must submit the fees by cash/crossed local cheque/Drafts in the favour of Bank of Baroda, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • Foreign aspirant or NRI’s can register themselves to the above-mentioned postgraduate courses by submitting the fee amount of $100.
  • Aspirants can register themselves to the Ph.D course by submitting the fee amount of Rs. 300/- (which comprises registration fee of Rs. 200 + admission fee of Rs. 100).

Admission Procedure of NMI (National Museum Institute) Ph.D Admissions 2018

Selection of the aspirant to the Ph.D programme is done on the basis of written test and interview organizeed by Research Advisory Committee.


Reservation Criteria of NMI (National Museum Institute) Ph.D Admissions 2018

  • 15% seats are reserved for the SC aspirants and 7.5 seats are reserved for the ST category aspirants.
  • 27% seats are reserved for the OBC category aspirants and 3% seats are reserved for the Differently Abled aspirants.
