NMI (National Museum Institute) MA Admission 2018

National Museum Institute (NMI) is an autonomous university which was founded in January 1989. The university is situated at Janpath, New Delhi. The university was given a status of the deemed university in April 1989.

The university provides Master of Arts (MA) programme in the following 3 branches:

  • Conservation – 15 seats
  • History of Art – 25 seats
  • Museology – 15 seats

Aspirants can get admission to the MA course on the basis of written test and interview organized by Joint Selection Committee of the university. Interested aspirants can register themselves to the MA course by submitting the fee amount of Rs. 300/- (which comprises registration fee of Rs. 200 + admission fee of Rs. 100).

Foreign aspirant or NRI’s can register themselves to the MA course by submitting the fee amount of $100.

History of Art:

Eligibility

  • Aspirants who working in service personnel with Central Government with at least 5 years regular service will be qualified to apply
  • The aspirant should possess graduation degree from Indian University recognized by UGC or Foreign recognized university with minimum 50% of marks.
  • Aspirants should also have studied Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts
  • Aspirants must obtain at least 50% marks in the written test, followed by an interview
  • Aspirants should have Knowledge of one classical/foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, and Italian other than mother tongue will also be an additional qualification

Museology:

Eligibility

  • The aspirant must possess B.A/ B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A. / B.Sc. / B.F.A. (3 years) degree in any branch under Humanities and Social Sciences / Science with 50% of marks
  • The aspirant must have studied subjects concerned to History of Art and Museum Studies in background/ Post Graduate Diploma.
  • Aspirants who working in service personnel with Central Government with at least 5 years regular service will also be qualified to apply.
  • Aspirants must have Knowledge of one classical/foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, and Italian other than mother tongue will also be an additional qualification.
  • Aspirants must obtain at least 50% marks in written test followed by an interview.

Conservation:

Eligibility

  • Aspirants must possess graduation degree from this university or any other recognized university in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Visual/Fine Arts or Architecture, Engineering and Technology with minimum 50% of marks.

  • Aspirants must possess graduation degree from this university or any other recognized university in any of the following subjects: History, Geography, Anthropology, Archaeology or concerned branches with minimum 50% of marks and must have studied 10+2 / Senior Secondary / Intermediate level education in science stream
  • Aspirants must obtain 50% marks in written test followed by an interview
  • Aspirants must have Knowledge of one classical/foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, and Italian other than mother tongue will also be an additional qualification.
  • Aspirants who working in service personnel with Central Government with at least 5 years regular service will be qualified to apply.

Step to Apply

  • The aspirant must have to download the application form available at the university website
  • Aspirants can register themselves to the MA course by submitting fee amount of Rs. 300/- (which comprises registration fee of Rs. 200 + admission fee of Rs. 100).
  • Foreign aspirant or NRI’s can register themselves to the above-mentioned postgraduate courses by submitting the fee of amount $100.
  • Aspirants must submit separate application forms for taking admission into more than one subject
  • The aspirant must pay the fees by cash/crossed local cheque/Drafts drawn at Bank of Baroda, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.

Enclosures

  1. Attested photocopies of Pass certificate of Class 10th.

Selection Procedure

Selection of the aspirant to the MA course will be done on the basis of written test and interview organized by Joint Selection Committee.

Reservation Procedure

  • 15% seats are reserved for the SC aspirants and 7.5 seats are reserved for the ST category aspirants.
  • 27% seats are reserved for the OBC category aspirants and 3% seats are reserved for the Differently Abled aspirants.

Scholarship

  • University offers 8 merit scholarships of amount Rs. 3000/- per month according to the candidate's performance.
  • University also offers 8 merit cum means scholarship of amount Rs. 1000/- per month.

  • Aspirants must have to maintain 66.4% attendance to avail scholarship.
