National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru is a premier Law University in the country. It is also sponsored by the Bar Council of India. The school consistently ranks as the most prestigious law school in India. It was the first ever National Law University to be founded in India. It has an intake of around 80 students in its undergraduate law programme, 40 in Masters of Law and 40 in its, recently introduced, Masters of Public Policy.

NLSIU invites applications for the undergraduate BA LLB (Hons.) The programme which is a five-year course and the postgraduate LLM Programme which is a one-year course. Both the courses are based on the trimester system.

The admission to the courses will take place via the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2018 which will be held on May 8, 2018(tentative) for which online registration should be done by January 1, 2018 (tentative). The admission will be based on merit.

Eligibility Criteria for NLSIU Bangalore BA.LLB and LL.M Admissions 2018

Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Laws [B.A.L.L.B.] {Hons}

You should have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an examination equivalent thereto securing in the first attempt, at at least of 50% marks in aggregate for general category and 45% marks in the case of SC / ST category and persons with disability.

Foreign Nationals: You will be admitted straight on the basis of your performance in the qualifying examination, overall academic record and command over the English language. You should have studied the English language as one of the mandatory subjects in 10+2 or equivalent Higher Secondary School Examination. Preference will be given to the aspirants from SAARC countries and other developing countries.

Master of Laws [L.L.M.] (Business Law) & Master of Laws [L.L.M.] (Human Rights)

NLSIU provides the following specializations in the LLM Programme:

  • Business Laws
  • Human Rights Law

Eligibility:

You should have secured an LL.B. degree or its equivalent from a recognised University, having obtained not less than 55% marks in the aggregate for general category and 50% marks in case of SC/ST category.

Note: If you are in the final year of your LL.B. course, then also you can apply.


How to apply for NLSIU (National Law School) Bangalore BA.LLB and LL.M Admissions 2018?

Applications for CLAT can be obtained from the Convenor CLAT Committee by sending a Demand Draft (as per the fee details mentioned below) drawn on the State Bank of India or any other nationalised bank and made payable to CLAT Committee. You can also download it from the website and submit it with the application fee.

Application Fee:

For General category/OBC/Specially-abled Aspirants: Rs. 4000

For SC/ST aspirants: Rs.3500

Send the filled-in application for the CLAT to the Convenor, CLAT Committee on or before the last date specified.


Selection Procedure of NLSIU (National Law School) Bangalore BA.LLB and LL.M Admissions 2018

Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Laws [B.A.L.L.B.] {Hons}, Master of Laws [L.L.M.] (Business Law) & Master of Laws [L.L.M.] (Human Rights)

  • 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong response
  • The test will carry a maximum of 150 marks with 150 questions
  • The Test will be consisting of objective type questions and will be of 2 hours duration
  • You will be selected on merit-cum-preference, based on the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2017 organizeed for post-graduate courses at an all-India level. That is, CLAT score and order of preference given by the aspirant in the CLAT application form
