Nirma University, popularly known as NU, is the oldest private university in the state of Gujarat. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act and has also been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council NAAC "A" Grade. The University is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).
The University offers various Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses under various specializations giving the students a pool of options for undertaking higher studies. Undergraduate courses include B.Tech, B.Pharm, B.Arch. B.A(L.L.B) and Integrated BBA-MBA programme. Postgraduate courses include MCA, M.Tech, M.Pharm, and M.Sc. Nirma University has come out with an excellent programme of design education to give the students of the future a well thought out, detailed and purposeful education in design. On offer are four years B.Des. (Industrial Design) and a B.Des.(Communication Design) programmes. Founded in 2017 and led by Prof Amit Sheth, the Department of Design is the latest addition to Nirma University.
Nirma University Admission to the above mentioned programmes is through marks secured by the candidates in the university entrance examination and Personal Interview and Portfolio Review which is open to all candidates from any state or union territory of India.
Candidates can register themselves by submitting application fees of Rs. 2360/- for above mentioned courses.

Eligibility
The candidates seeking admission in the 1st year of Degree Programme leading to Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) shall have passed the HSC examination (10+2) or any other recognized examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
OR
The candidates holding 10+3 Diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education or any other board/university as considered equivalent by Nirma University with minimum 50% aggregate marks will also be considered eligible.

The selection process of Admission to the Bachelor of Design Programmes consists of the following stages:
Entrance Test:
The applicants are required to appear in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Department of Design, NU. However, students who have passed their qualifying exam from outside India (pure NRI) are exempted from appearing the Entrance Test. The test will be held on 28th January 2018 at Ahmedabad, Bhopal, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Cochin, Hyderabad, Patna, Dehradun.
Personal Interview and Portfolio Review:
The applicants shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Entrance Test will be called for Personal Interview at Ahmadabad between May 1st to May 5th, 2018.
Provisional Offer of Admission to Programme:
Successful candidates will be made the provisional offer of admission to join the Department of Design at Nirma University. Candidates will be informed through e-mails provided in the online application form. Applicants are also advised to check the updates on the website and their respective e-mail ids at regular intervals.
