NEHU Shillong (North Eastern Hill University) is a Central University founded on 19 July 1973 by Act of Indian Parliament. For the academic year, NEHU Shillong provides admission to M.A. program in 15 various specializations which are Anthropology, Adult and Continuing Education, Economics, Education, English, Folkloristics, Geography, History, Hindi, Journalism and Mass Communication, Khasi, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology. The university has two campuses in Meghalaya- Shillong and Tura. NEHU Shillong M.A. Eligibility Criteria 2018

To be applicable for admission to M.A. program, aspirants must fulfil the eligibility criteria. important; list-style-type:disc">M.A. in Adult and Continuing Education- A Graduate with Majors from any branch securing an aggregate of 50% marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST)
  • M.A. (Relaxation by 5% marks for SC/ ST categories).
  • M.A. in Linguistics - Participants with Major in any subject securing an aggregate of 50% or general Pass securing an aggregate of 55% may also apply. Selection will be based on admission test and relevant NEHU criteria. important; list-style-type:disc">M.A. in Anthropology- Majors in Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Home Science and Mass Communication are applicable to apply for this program.
  • M.A. in Political Science - Aspirants with B.A. Honors/ Major in Political Science would be considered for admission to MA in Political Science.
  • M.A. in History – Student having the history at undergraduate level from a recognised university or institute with minimum 50% marks are applicable to apply for this course. important; list-style-type:disc">M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication – To be applicable for admission to M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, students must have 3-year bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks from a recognised university or institute.
  • M.A. in Philosophy - Aspirants with Majors in Philosophy or Majors in any subject and simple pass in Philosophy with at least 50% marks can apply for this program. important; list-style-type:disc">M.A. in Sociology - Admission to M.A Sociology program is strictly for those aspirants with honours in Sociology.
  • in Education - Aspirants with Majors in Education and aspirant having B.Ed. (Theory) degree with minimum 50% marks are also applicable to apply for admission to M.A.
  • Those who will qualify all the stages of the selection procedure will be considered for admission.
