National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) Ph.D. Admissions 2018

National University of Advanced Legal Studies provides a 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree Programme and 1-year LLM programme along with two Post Graduate Diploma and research Ph.D. programme. Admissions to all the courses in NUALS shall be done once in a year in July/August.

Only aspirants with the relevant qualifying degree are applicable to apply for the above mentioned programmes. Selection of aspirants to the Ph.D. programme (including admission to Recognised Institutions) shall be done on the basis of entrance examination, organized by the university itself. Aspirants applying for registration as Part-Time students shall be considered for registration only in cases where the Research Committee constituted is convinced that effective supervision can be ensured.

NUALS Ph.D. Admissions 2018 Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Law

  • Aspirants want registration to the Ph.D. programme shall hold a Master’s Degree from a recognised University with an at least of 55% marks in the qualifying examination, or an at least CGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale (or an equivalent grade in similar scales). An aspirant belonging to SC/ST community shall be applicable for the exemption up to 5% marks in the at least applicable marks for admission.
  • Aspirants want registration to the Ph.D. programme shall have passed the Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

Concession from DAT Exam

  • Teachers of Universities/Colleges in Kerala and teachers who are working in Quasi Government/Government Institutions recognised by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, with an at least continuous service of five years as permanent employees are exempted from DAT.
  • Aspirants who have qualified UGC-NET Lectureship examination are exempted from DAT.

NUALS Ph.D. Admissions 2018 How to Apply

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Law

Aspirants want admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall submit applications in the prescribed pattern which will be allowed straight from the office on submitting a DD for 500/-(Rupees Five hundred only) drawn in the name of Registrar, NUALS, Kochi.

Application forms can also be downloaded from the official website of NUALS. In case the application is downloaded, a DD for 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) drawn in the name of Registrar, NUALS, Kochi shall also be attached while submitting the application form.

NUALS Ph.D. Admissions 2018 Selection Procedure

Doctor of Philosophy in Law

The selection Procedure will be based on performance in DAT Entrance exam and marks obtained in qualifying exam. For aspirants belonging to SC/ST, the at least marks for eligibility is 45%.

All aspirants want admission to the Ph.D. Programme who have passed the admission test with an at least of 50% marks or who are exempted from the admission test shall need to current themselves for an interview before the Research Committee or a Subcommittee constituted by the Research Committee.

The weight for written test and interview for ranking will be as follows:

Separate rank lists shall be prepared for full time, part time and for those students who are exempted from DAT.

The admission lists and the waiting list of all applicable aspirants shall be displayed on the notice boards of the University/Recognised Institutions. The Departmental Admission Test (DAT) shall have two parts - Written test and Interview. The rank list shall be valid until the December 31, 2018 (tentative)

The entrance exam will be held on May 01, 2018 (tentative).

Aspirants who have scored an at least of 50% marks in the written examination will be applicable to be ranked for admission.
