National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Set up in 1986, the tremendous turning point in the history of the Fashion industry. It was well recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Textile with the collaboration of FIT, New York. The Institute provides a common platform for fashion education, research and training. It is a premier Institute for providing best Designs and Technology to its employers and become the most leading institute in providing benchmark performance in the fashion industry. NIFT was empowered by the government of India in 2006 for granting its own degrees and other distinctions.

The university offers various courses which include Under Graduate (UG) & Post Graduate (PG). In this article Post graduate (PG) programmes as an integral part of the curriculum. These course levels are discussed as following in various disciplines:

Post Graduate courses:

  • Master of Design (M.Des) – 2 years - Full Time
  • Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.) – 2 years - Full Time
  • Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.) – 2 years - Full Time

National Institute of Fashion Technology Admission to the above mentioned programmes is through marks secured by the candidates in the NIFT entrance examination CREATIVE ABILITY TEST (CAT) & GENERAL ABILITY TEST (GAT) which is open to all candidates from any state or union territory of India.

Candidates can register themselves by submitting application fees of Rs. 1500, for eligible candidates ( SC/ ST/ PWD Category) the fees would Rs.750/- can be paid online through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Online transaction or Demand Draft.

The eligibility criteria for PG Programmes offered at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has been explained below:

Master of Design (M.Des)

Candidates must have successfully completed any of the following:

  • Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India or
  • Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.

Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.)

Candidates must have successfully completed any of the following:

  • Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India
  • Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID

Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.)

Candidates must have successfully completed any of the following:

  • B.F.Tech. from NIFT
  • B.E / B.Tech. from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.

No age limit

Admission Process

Candidates are required to apply online through website: https://applyadmission.net/nift2018 They can access this website also through the ‘Admission 2018 - Apply now!’ banner on the homepage of official website of NIFT (http://www.nift.ac.in)

  • Candidates have to go the official website. http://www.nift.ac.in
  • New Candidate to Create Log In (New Log In) on the homepage of official website of NIFT
  • Fill the details to register for any programme. You must have a valid email ID for applying online.
  • The confirmation of the registration will also be sent to your email entered.
  • Already Logged In candidate to complete the process of filling online application form (Login to your account)
  • Fill all Mandatory Details in application form
  • Upload Photo and Signature images
  • Make Payment online through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Online transaction or Demand Draft
  • Print Application for further use

Essential Documents to be made ready

Before starting to fill up the online application, keep ready with you the following details/documents/Information

  • Valid Email ID (the email should be valid for at least 1 year)
  • Personal and Educational qualification details
  • Caste / Tribe/ Class certificate (for SC / ST/ OBC candidate)
  • Disability Certificate for Persons with Disabilities
  • Image of scanned photograph in jpg/jpeg format and size should not exceed 50 KB
  • Image of scanned signature in jpg/jpeg format and size should not exceed 50 KB
  • Demand Draft of requisite amount ( 1500/- in case of GEN/OBC (Non-Creamy) candidates and 750/- in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) drawn in favour of “NIFT HO”, payable at New Delhi in case making payment DD.
  • Debit / Credit Card details in case making the online payment.
