Method of Application
The University invites Applications for admission to the M.Sc., M.Sc. (Integrated) and MCA Programmes for the academic year. The admission to M.Sc. The programme is based on merit. For Integrated M.Sc., admissions are via the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) and for MCA Programme, they are via the MAH-MCA-CET (Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test).
The University provides Master of Science (M.Sc.) The programme which is for a period of 2 years provided under the Faculty of Science and in different Affiliated Colleges of MU. It also provides an Integrated M.Sc. Programme for admission right after 10+2 level which is a 5-year course. The Master in Computer Application (MCA) Programme provided by the University is a two-year course.
Mumbai University (MU) is the oldest University which is founded in 1857 and situated at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India. It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST. It has found its name in industrial & International collaborations and runs different professional courses. The University was accorded 5-star status in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. At the national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-access activities.
In the last five years, it has seen 104% increase in undergraduate students. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. More than eighty of its teachers are on different professional bodies.

You should have either passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination of the University of Mumbai in Science or equivalent degree of any other university recognized as equivalent thereto with one of the corresponding subjects as a major subject.
You should have passed the Class 12th examination or equivalent from science stream (having any combination of Biology/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics) from any recognized Board securing at least 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade and 55% in aggregate for SC/ST category. In the absence of such a certificate, the judgment of the Admissions Committee of the related Institution will be final.
Age: You should be not more than 20 years of age in case of general and OBC category and 25 years in case of SC/ST/PD categories.
For Direct second year admissions, you should have passed Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science).
Nationality: You should be an Indian National only.
You can obtain the Application Form from the University main campus. The entire application process is offline.
You should fill the form with the need educational and personal details. You should also affix a passport size photograph.
Application Fee: You should pay the Application Fee of Rs. 100 in cash from 11 am to 1 pm and 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm on weekdays except for Second and Fourth Saturdays.

You must download the application form online via the NEST website.
You should fill the form with the need details. The Demand Draft for need amount should be prepared from any bank and should be drawn in favor of NISER-NEST and payable at Bhubaneswar.
Online payment portal: The multimodal payment portal provides payment by credit card/debit card/net-banking of multiple banks. If you are opting for online payment, you required not send any document to NEST office. The DD should be sent along with a printout of the application summary obtained at the end of the application procedure.
Demand Draft: If you are making payment via DD, you must write your name and application number at the back of the DD before dispatching. You must then attach a passport size photograph and scanned copy of your signatures.
Application Fee: You can make the payment of the amount given below, by Demand Draft or using credit card/debit card/net-banking via an online payment gateway. You should send the DD preferably by speed post at the address given below which must access NEST office.

You need to apply online on the website link for MCA Programme, where you should click on the option "APPLY ONLINE" which will open a new screen.
To register application, choose the tab "Click here for New Registration" and enter Name, Contact details, and Email-id.
You should then cautiously fill and verify the details filled in the online application.
Upload the photograph and signature in JPost Graduate or JPEG pattern. You should also take a printout of the e-Receipt.

Once you have verified all the details, then click the “Final Submission” button. The size of the file should be between 10kb to 20 kb with 140 x 60 pixel (preferably) The size of the file should be between 20kb to 50 kb with 200 x 230 pixels (preferably) and 4.5cm × 3.5cm dimensions.
Application Fee: You should pay the Application Fee mentioned below by using Debit Cards (RuPay /Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets. The registration procedure is now complete.The photograph must be a recent passport style color picture against a light-colored, preferably white, background. The scanned signature should be on white paper with Black Ink pen.
You will be selected strictly on merit basis.

The marks listed at Bachelor’s level examination will be considered for preparing merit list as per quota available for other University students.Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] + Master of Science [M.Sc] (Computer Science)
You will be selected on the basis of National Entrance Screening Test (NEST). However, only the best three subject scores along with the score in the general section will be counted for evaluation and merit list preparation.
The questions are designed to test your subject comprehension and analytic ability. In the subject sections, there will be negative marking for inaccurate responses. The examination is of 3 hours duration. Section 1 is the general section and is mandatory for all. Questions will be designed to test analytic abilities and comprehension of scientific passages. Sections 2 via 5 will contain subject-specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Some of the questions in this section may require knowledge of class 10th mathematics.
The NEST will be organized at 56 major towns and cities all over India.There will be no negative marking in general section. For NEST question papers of last few years, you can refer to the NEST website. The language of the question paper will be English only.
Syllabus: The syllabus for NEST primarily follows the NCERT/ CBSE science syllabus of class 11th or 12th.
The question paper will consist of 5 sections of objective (MCQ) type questions carrying 50 marks in each section. There is, however, no specific syllabus for the general section. Some questions may have one or more accurate responses for which marks can only be acquired by marking all accurate responses and no wrong response. You are permitted to attempt as many subject-sections as you wish. MCA
You will be selected on the basis of MAH-MCA-CET (Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test).
The Online CET would be included in two online papers including General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC) of 100 marks each, with a composite time of 90 minutes duration. Each paper shall have 25 questions.
The test will include multiple choice objective type questions with Four Options. Each accurate response will carry 4 marks. Each wrong response will carry 1 negative mark.
