Mumbai University (MU) is the oldest University which was founded in 1857 and situated at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India. Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. The University was accorded 5-star status in 2001 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). At the national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-access activities. It has found its name in industrial International collaborations and runs different professional courses. It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.

In the last five years, it has seen 104% increase in undergraduate students. More than eighty of its teachers are on different professional bodies. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. The University also maintains a faculty-student ratio of 1:15.

The University provides Master of Financial Management (MFM), Master of Marketing Management (MMM), Master of Human Resources Development Management (MHRDM), Master of Information Management (MIM) programmes from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JIMS). The Master of Financial Services Management (MFSM) is also a 3 year Part time Degree course. They are 3 year Part time Degree courses of the University of Mumbai. The MMS (Master of Management Studies) Programme is a 2-year Full-time Degree course.

The University invites Applications for the above-mentioned programmes for the academic year. The admission for MFM, MMM, MHRDM and MIM will be based on a Written Test followed by Group Discussion, the applications for which should be submitted. The admission for MMS Programme will be via the MHT-CET.

Eligibility Criteria for MU (Mumbai University) Management Admissions 2018

Master in Marketing Management [MMM], Master in Information Management [MIM] Master in Financial Management [MFM]

You should have passed the Bachelor’s degree examination of this university or any other university recognised as equivalent thereto and should have earned at least of 2 years work experience in the cadre at supervisory level with the experience being counted from the day subsequent to the last day of the qualifying examination passed by you.

If you have passed from Universities other than Mumbai University, you will have to obtain eligibility certificate from the University of Mumbai via JBIMS office.

You should also fulfil any of the following criteria:

  • You should have a degree of this University in any faculty or a recognised University in first or second class and have an at least two years work experience (non-clerical) after graduation.
  • You should have a degree of this University in any faculty or of a recognised University and possess a recognised qualification such as ACA, AICWA, AMIE, CAIIB, etc. and have at least two Years work experience (non-clerical)
  • You should have a Post-graduate degree or diploma honoured by recognised institutions and have a maximum two years work experience (non-clerical)
  • You should have a Bachelor’s degree from this University in any faculty or of a recognised University with five years executive (non-clerical) experience in any of the concerned areas of Marketing

Master of Management Studies (Management Studies)

You must have passed, on or before 31st July, Bachelor’s degree of at least Three year period in any branch recognised by Association of Indian University, New Delhi, with at least 50% marks in aggregate for general category and 45% marks in case of backward class category from Maharashtra State only.

Master in Financial Services Management (MFSM)

You should have passed a Bachelor’s degree examination in any faculty of this University or an examination recognised by this University as equivalent thereto.

You should have passed the Graduates Examination in Industrial Engineering, Mumbai and who subsequently qualify in the GATE Examination organizeed by Government of India via I.I.T.


How to apply for MU (Mumbai University) Management Admissions 2018?

Master in Marketing Management [MMM], Master in Information Management [MIM] Master in Financial Management [MFM]

You should download the application form from the website.

You should fill the Application Form with the need individual and educational details and also details concerning your work experience. and 1.30 p.m. You should submit it between 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. to 1.00 p.m. You should then affix a passport size photograph.

Application Fee: You may pay the Application Fee of Rs. 1200 with Demand draft payable at Mumbai in favour of “Director, JBIMS”.

Enclosures: You should attach the following documents along with Application Form:

  • Proof of age
  • Certificates concerning Educational Qualification
  • Proof of at least 2 years supervisory/ executive experience after declaration of result of graduation
  • Caste Certificate

You should submit the duly filled in Application Form along with the need enclosures to the JBIMS office in person. on working days (except on Sundays, Second and Fourth Mondays and Public Holidays).

Master in Financial Services Management (MFSM)

You should download the application form from the website.

You should fill the Application Form with the need individual and educational details and also details concerning your work experience. You should submit it between 11.00 a.m. New Boys Hostel, Tagore Link Road, Vidya Nagari, Kalina, Santacruz East, Mumbai, Maharashtra - 400098

and 1.30 p.m. to 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on working days (except on Sundays, Second and Fourth Mondays and Public Holidays).

Address of ADMI Office:

Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute For Financial and Management Studies, Joravar Bhavan, Opp. You should then affix a passport size photograph.

Application Fee: You may pay the Application Fee of Rs. 1200 with Demand draft payable at Mumbai in favour of “Director, ADMI”.

Enclosures: You should attach the following documents along with Application Form:

  • Certified True copy of Marks sheet of Bachelor Degree Examination.
  • Certified True Copy of any other University Degree

You should submit the duly filled in Application Form along with the need enclosures to the ADMI office in person.

Step 1: You should register for MHT-CET online on the official website. This clears the registration procedure. You should take a print out of the Registration Confirmation page. The file size of each of them should not be more than 50 KB per file.

Scan the signature in 200 dpi (dots per inch) scanner resolution settings.

Step 4: You must then download and print the MHT-CET bank challan on an A4 size paper on a single page. Make the payment via the Bank Challan from any discipline of SBI Bank for:

  • Rs 600.00 + Rs 60.00 Bank Commission - Reservation Category Aspirants
  • Rs 800.00 + Rs 60.00 Bank Commission - Open Aspirants

Step 5: You should log in to MHT-CET registration using your MHT-CET Registration No and password after 24 hours of making the payment and confirm if the Bank transaction ID No. You will find the Application under the “MHT-CET Registration” link. The file name of Photograph and signature should preferably be photo.jpeg and sign.jpeg respectively. and date of payment have been updated. The picture should be taken against a light/white background. The signature should be on a white paper with a black ink pen.

Step 2: You should fill in the Application form with the individual details with a valid email id, mobile No. and a password on the first login.

Step 3: You should upload a recent colour passport size photograph and signature in JPEG pattern only.


Selection Procedure of MU (Mumbai University) Management Admissions 2018

Master in Marketing Management [MMM], Master in Information Management [MIM] Master in Financial Management [MFM]

You will be selected on the basis of Written Test followed by a Group Discussion.

The written test is multiple choice objective type questions test for a period of 2 hours. The questions will be based on comprehension, quantitative ability, logic and general knowledge.

There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong response.

Master in Financial Services Management (MFSM)

In selecting the aspirant for admission, weightage will be given to (a) your scholastic record; (b) the level and nature of practical experience; and (c) performance in the selection programme organizeed by the institute.

Mumbai University Fees Structure

You will be selected on the basis of MH – CET organizeed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra or any other entrance test approved by the regulatory authorities/University of Mumbai.

The MHT-CET for engineering admissions will consist of two question papers (Paper 1 and Paper 3). There is no negative marking in the examination.

The questions will be multiple choice type and all questions have to be responded. Each paper is of 100 marks and one and a half hours duration.


Reservation Criteria for MU (Mumbai University) Management Admissions 2018

The reservation policy for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Vimukta Jati, Nomadic Tribe, Denotified Tribe, Other Backward Classes and Special Backward Classes will be as per Government of Maharashtra guidelines.
