Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) was founded in Tamil Nadu on September 7, 1990, with an aim to serve to the required of a University and affiliating body for the southernmost provinces of Tamilnadu, i.e. Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Kanyakumari. There are 24 academic departments in the university which provide Part-time, Full-time Postgraduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in different branches. The university also has 61 affiliated college, 5 Mano Colleges and 1 constituent college.
The basic eligibility for admission to Post Graduate programs at MSU is that an aspirant must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant branch. The application procedure for Post Graduate programs begins in the month of May. The entrance exam is held in the month of June. The application forms are available from May 05, 2018 (tentative) and the last date for submission of forms is May 31, 2018 (tentative).

MSU provides a total of 5 post-graduate courses in the Arts stream. The Course-wise eligibility for each course is explained below:
|MA Tamil||An undergraduate degree in Literature or an Undergraduate degree in any stream with Tamil as one of the subjects of study in Part I from a recognised University.|
|MA English||An undergraduate degree in any stream with English as one of the subjects of study in part II from a recognised University.|
|MA History (TM – Tamil Medium EM – English Medium)||An undergraduate degree in any branch (except for Literature) from a recognised University in India.|
|An undergraduate degree in any branch from a recognised University.|
MSU provides postgraduate courses in a variety of branch in the Science stream. The detailed course-wise eligibility for each course is given below:

An aspirant with an undergraduate degree in any stream can apply for Master degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at MSU.
The application form for Post Graduate courses at MSU is available for download on the official website from May 05, 2018 (tentative). No. Apart from the Demand Draft/SBI Challan, an aspirant also required to send self-attested xerox copies and original copy of the following certificates to the University (the original certificates will be returned after the verification):
The aspirant required to send a demand draft or SBI challan – Power Jothi Scheme (DD& CE A/c. The last date to submit the filled-in form is May 31, 2018 (tentative). Aspirants appearing in their final year/semester exam required to submit their mark statement till V semester and a course certificate alloted by the Principal.
The aspirant should send the filled in application form along with the xerox copies of the certificates mentioned above and DD/SBI challan to the Head of the related department.

Before applying to the Post Graduate programs at University, an aspirant must go via the eligibility criteria for the same.
Aspirants applying to courses provideed by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University must go via the prospectus and read cautiously the details of the course. The application form must be filled in by the aspirant themselves in their own handwriting.
MSU provides admission to the Post Graduate programs on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination and university-held entrance examination. The result will be declared within a fortnight of the exam. The weightage given to marks scored in Qualifying Examination and Entrance Examination is 50:50.
The entrance examination will be based on the undergraduate syllabus in the relevant branch. The entrance exam will be held on June 09, 2017 (tentative). The list of documents is as follows:
