The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University (TNMGRMU) is a government medical university and is the 2nd largest health sciences university in India. The university has various departments which provide a multitude of medical courses at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctoral level.

TNMGRMU provides Doctor of Medicine (DM) & Master of Chirurgie (M.Ch.) as super-specialty degree courses to students who possess Post Graduate degree such as MD/MS.

DM [Cardiology]

The aspirant must possess any of the following degrees - M.D (Medicine)/ M.D (Paediatrics)

DM [Clinical Hematology]

The aspirant must possess any of the following degrees - M.D (Medicine)/ M.D (Paediatrics)/ M.D.Pathology/ M.D (Bio-Chemistry).

DM [Endocrinology]

Aspirant must have done Diplomate National Board (DNB) super speciality course in the related broad-speciality

DM [Gastroenterology]

Aspirant must possess any of the following degree - M.D (Medicine)/ M.D (Paediatrics)

DM [Hepatology]

Aspirant must have done Diplomate National Board (DNB) super speciality course in the related broad-speciality

DM [Medical Oncology]

Aspirant must possess qualification in one of the following subjects i.e. M.D (Medicine)/ M.D (Radio Therapy)/M.D (Paediatrics)

DM [Neonatology]

Aspirant must possess M.D. (Paediatrics)

DM [Nephrology]

Aspirant must possess qualification in one of the following subjects i.e M.D (Medicine)/ M.D (Paediatrics)

DM [Neurology]

Aspirant must possess qualification in one of the following subject i.e M.D (Medicine)/ M.D (Paediatrics)

Master of Chirurgiae [M.Ch] (Cardio-Vascular Thoracic Surgery) , Master of Chirurgiae [M.Ch] (Paediatric Surgery) & Master of Chirurgiae [M.Ch] (Plastic Surgery)

Aspirant must possess M.S. (Surgery) degree

Master of Chirurgiae [M.Ch] (Neuro Surgery)

Aspirant must have done 3 years course in M.S (Surgery) or 5 years course in M.B.B.S

Master of Chirurgiae [M.Ch] (Surgical Oncology)

Aspirant must possess qualification in any of the following subjects i.e M.S (Surgery)/ M.S (ENT)/ M.S (Orthopaedics)/ MD (Obst & Gynae)

MGR Medical University DM & M.Ch Admissions 2018 How to Apply?

M.Ch

For Indian aspirants:

  • Aspirants can fill the online application form available at the university website and submit it along with the need fee to complete the registration procedure
  • Aspirant must submit the registration fee of Rs. 1600/- for application and eligibility certificate via online payment gateway for students. The application and eligibility certificate fee is non-refundable.

For NRI aspirants:

Aspirants who have passed advanced level qualification and central board examination in foreign countries can also submit application and eligibility fee amount of Rs. 10,000/- via Demand Draft (DD) in favor of The Registrar, Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.

The aspirant should be of Indian origin settled in foreign countries or should be born to parents of Indian origin in a foreign country. Aspirant want admission under NRI quota must possess Indian passport

For Indian aspirants:

  1. Allocation order (All India Quota/ State Quota)
  2. Community Certificate
  3. Transfer Certificate
  4. X Std / XII Std Mark Statement
  5. MBBS/MD/MS degree Certificate
  6. CRRI certificate
  7. Migration Certificate & Eligibility Certificate for students from other Universities (originals to be enclosed along with the registration application)
  8. State Council registration certificate for Under Graduate degree

For NRI quota aspirants:

  1. NRI status of the financial supporter alloted by the Indian Embassy
  2. Certificate of the relationship between the NRI financial supporter and the aspirant alloted by the competent authority
  3. Valid Indian Passport of the NRI financial supporter
  4. NRE (Non-Resident External) Bank Account Pass Book of the financial supporter
  5. Evidence for payment of Development charges the US $ 1000/- to the college by the NRI financial supporter (One-time payment at the time of admission only)

Selection of the aspirants to the DM/M.Ch. programme will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination, organizeed by the university.
