Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) is a UGC recognised, the rural university at Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, India founded on February 12, 1991, by social activist Nanaji Deshmukh, based on a separate MP Government Act (9, 1991). The University aims to offer higher education to people living in rural areas with the administration that is dedicated to teaching, learning, and research. The university offers admission to the following Post Graduate course for the year:

Aspirants with the relevant Under Graduate qualification can register for the above mentioned programmes. The applicable candidates can register themselves online via the university website and submit the application form along with need documents and processing fee.

Aspirants are admitted to the above Post Graduate programmes on the basis of merit to be determined by the Entrance Test and counseling, both organized by the University.

For M.B.A. (Rural Management/ Small Business Management /Agri Business Management), admissions are done via Central/State level entrance body.

The aspirant should possess graduation degree in any stream from a recognised college /University.

Master of Social Work [MSW]

MSW (Master of Social works)- 2 years (35 seats)


The aspirant should possess graduation degree in the branch of Social Sciences/Commerce/Science with at least 50% marks from any stream from a recognised college/University.

Common Eligibility:

  • Aspirants up to the age of 28 years as on the date of admission is applicable for admission in above courses.
  • Aspirants required to appear and complete the entrance examination followed by the counseling organized by the University.
  • There is a relaxation of 3 years in the age limit of SC/ST/OBC Aspirants (Only MP State). However, 80% seats are reserved for the aspirants of Madhya Pradesh only.
  • Aspirants with less than 50% marks in the qualifying degree shall not be considered applicable for admission.
However, there is no age limit for the female aspirants.
  • Aspirants from all over India are applicable for admission.

    Master of Arts [MA] (Rural Development), Master of Social Work [MSW] & Master of Journalism and Mass Communication [MJMC]

    All applicable and interested aspirants intending for admission should apply online via the Institute website and submit. Aspirants are supposed to fill an online application via according to the following steps:

    • Upload the Scanned passport size image with signature as .jpg pattern

    • Aspirants are advised to check and ensure the eligibility criteria before applying for admission.
    • Print the fee details slip
    • Open the fee submission option, upload scan bank slip and enter journal number to confirm your application form
    • Print the application form for future reference
    • Scan fee deposition bank slip as .jpg pattern 


    • The aspirant can download the hall ticket online after filling up the online admission form from the university website: www.
    • The  journal number of fee deposition from the bank should be noted and the receipt  should be kept safe for submission in the university during entrance examination
    • Application Fees Rs. 600/-  for general category and  Rs. 300/-(for SC/ST of MP and all Female Aspirants)

    Admission Procedure

    Master in Tourism and Hotel Management (MTHM), Master of Social Work [MSW] & Master of Journalism and Mass Communication [MJMC]

    The University shall organize an Entrance test in the University campus for selection of the participants for admission to the different courses.

    The selection of aspirants on the basis of the entrance test shall be made via merit of the aspirant. The merit shall be decided by the competent authority of the university according to the performance in the entrance test and a subsequent counseling.

    For MBA, admissions are done via Central/ state level entrance body, however, leftover seats will be filled by local counseling.

    Entrance Examination Level will be of at least eligibility level qualifying exam, general knowledge, present affair & aptitude test.

    Counseling Procedure

    The aspirants who qualify in the entrance examination shall have to attend the counseling in person.

    Aspirants who are selected  in the entrance test and  final counseling procedure are  advised to submit attested copies of the following documents along with their respective originals for verification at the time of taking admission within the stipulated time period:

    • Affidavits for submission of Migration Certificate/Transfer Certificate
    • Proof of Date of birth (Mark-sheet of Secondary/Senior Secondary examination). 
    • Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate from the Board/University/Institute last attended.
    • Declaration regarding non-creamy layer (eligible for OBC aspirants only)
    • Mark-sheet of the qualifying examination.
    • Character certificate from the Institute last attended.
    • SC / ST / OBC certificate, if eligible

    MGCGV PG Admission 2018 Reservation Criteria

    Seats are reserved according to the policy of MP government -according to which 80% Seats are reserved for MP Aspirants (having domicile certificate) and 20% Seats for Other State Aspirants.

    Reservation of seats for other categories of MP only is given below in the tabular form:

    MGCGV PG Admission 2018 Scholarships

    MGCGV CHITRAKOOT University offers the scholarship to the all applicable students. Some of the scholarships offered by the University are listed below:

    • Scholarships for SC/ST/0BCand BPL aspirants according to the guidelines of MP Govt.
    • Merit scholarships
    • Scholarships are given by the state government/ GOI
    The University offers the number of scholarship facilities to the desiring aspirants of the University. For making fare chances to the students the University offers the financial assistance to the deserving aspirants in the form of scholarship.
