Founded in 2015, Mandsaur University (MU) is a UGC recognised private university, situated in Madhya Pradesh. The primary goal of the university is to emerge as a leading center of academic excellence and play a transformational role in the development of the nation.

In addition to regular Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in different fields such as engineering, pharmacy, management, library science and journalism, the university also provides research courses i.e. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Only aspirants with the relevant qualifying degree can register themselves for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D. courses and final selection will be done on the basis of marks scored in the Entrance Test, organized by the university. 

The application procedure usually starts in the month of January and ends in February and aspirants can register through online as well as offline mode. Applications can be submitted along with the procedure fee through online registration procedure available at the official university website. Forms can also be obtained in person from the university office and submitted upon completion along with the need fee on or before the last date.

MU Ph.D. and M.Phil  Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Engineering, M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science & M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Pharmacy

The university provides following specializations in M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programs:

  • Aspirants who have appeared in the qualifying examination and the result is awaited can also appear for the entrance test but they will have to submit the original certificates of the qualifying examination before the commencement of the course work.
  • The aspirant must have passed Master’s Degree in the respective subject from a recognised University with at least 55% marks or B+ grade.

The concession from Entrance Test:

  • Those aspirants are exempted from appearing in the entrance test for Ph.D. programme who have obtained M.Phil. Degree with at least B+ grade or equivalent as a regular student from any recognised University and whose admission has been via an entrance test at M.Phil. Level.
  • Aspirants who have qualified UGC-NET/CSIR (JRF) examination/SLET/GATE or if the aspirants are teacher fellowship holders or DST/ICMR/any other National Agency Fellow or have Ph.D. degree in the allied subject from a recognised University are exempted from the appearing of entrance test. The selection of these aspirants will be based on their performance in the interview as well as overall academic merit.

MU Ph.D. and M.Phil  Admission 2018 How To Apply

M.Phil/Ph.D. in Engineering, M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy

Aspirants can register for admission to research programmes via online as well as offline mode. Those want admission can submit their applications by following the given instructions:


  • Aspirants need to upload their photograph, signature, scanned copy of the matriculation, Master’s degree (or M.Phil. if eligible) and fee slip.
  • The forms for entrance test are available at the official website of the university
  • Forms can be filled and submitted online through the official website.
  • For aspirants who are applying online, the hall tickets shall be uploaded on the website on January 27, 2017.


  • Aspirants need to bring the self-attested copy of mark sheet of Matriculation and Master’s degree (or M.Phil. if eligible) and 2 passports sized photographs.
  • For aspirants who are applying offline, the hall ticket will be allocated from January 27, 2017 onwards.
  • Those who wish to apply via offline mode need to visit the Research and Development Cell, Mandsaur University.
  • Aspirants must submit duly finished applications along with fees as per the scheduled dates.

Entrance Fee:

Without Late fee: Rs.500/- 

With Late fee: Rs.1000/-.

Note: Aspirants need to bring the original fee receipt along with the hall ticket in order to appear for entrance examination. 

MU Ph.D. and M.Phil  Admission 2018 Admission Procedure

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Engineering, M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science & M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Pharmacy

The selection of the aspirants for both the courses is based on Entrance test and aspirants will be selected as per the merit list announced after organizing individual interview and verification of original documents.

The period of the exam will be 2 hours and there will be two papers: Paper I and Paper II. The exam format is explained below:

Paper I is common for all streams comprising 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each. Aspirants who have done M.Phil via distance education are not exempted from coursework.

Questions will comprise following areas:

  • Quantitative Analysis
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Research Aptitude
  • General Awareness & Present affairs
  • English Language

Paper II would be a subject-specific comprising 50 MCQs from the specified syllabus.

Note: All selected Ph.D. /M.Phil. Students will have to attend the course work for one semester.

MU Ph.D. and M.Phil  Admission 2018 Reservation Criteria

SC/ST and physically challenged/disabled aspirants will get 5% relaxation in the qualifying exam.
