Founded in 1966, Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) is a public university with 18 schools, 72 departments, and 109 affiliated colleges. Diploma / Certificate courses in the different departments. Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) has 24 autonomous colleges, 14 aided colleges, 33 self-financing colleges, 18 approved institutions, 4 evening colleges, 6 constituent colleges and one University College.  Courses provided by MKU comprise 41 postgraduate and 35 M.Phil programmes, along with 17 Diploma / P.G. In addition to it, 66 UG and 45 PG courses are provided in the affiliated Colleges.

In addition to regular programs, the university also provides distance learning courses through MKU Directorate of Distance Education. The university provides several distances Under Graduate & Post Graduate courses along with 21 Diploma, 44 Post Graduate Diploma, and 10 Certification programs in different departments such as Art, Science, and Management courses.

  • Those want admission can register themselves by filling and submitting duly filled-in applications available at the official university website.
  • Only aspirants with the relevant postgraduate degree are applicable to apply for M.Phil programme. 
  •  The aspirant must attach the need procedures fee and necessary enclosures along with finished applications. The university organizes the placement activities for students. Companies like IBM, TCS & Cognizant participate in MKU Placement activity programs. 
  • Admission to the above-mentioned programmes is via marks secured by the aspirants in the university entrance examination only.

MKU M.Phil. Admissions 2018 How to Apply

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts, M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Education & M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

For applying to M.Phil. programmes of the MKU, the aspirant should follow the given steps:

  • Students should write their name, clear address, and course for which they applied in Block letters on the reverse side of the demand draft
  • The separate application form should be filled by aspirant if they wish to apply for more than one course. Students belonging to states other than Tamil Nadu are treated as ‘Other Communities’
  • Photocopies of all the certificates along with application form should be in English only and must be sent to the following address:
  • The aspirant should fill the prescribed application form available on the university website and send it along with the registration fee and relevant certificates before the last date
  • Registration fees for M.Phil. programmes are Rs. 300/- which should be submitted via demand draft (DD) only

  • Along with the application forms, aspirants have to submit photocopies, attested by the Gazetted officer, of the following certificates:
  1. SSLC,HSE mark statement
  2. U.G./P.G. Degree Marks statement /Grade certificates/ Provisional Certificate
  3. Community certificate obtained from Tahsildar related otherwise it will not be taken into account.
  4. Income Certificate obtained 3 months prior to the date of advertisement (for SC/ST/Blind aspirants only)
  5. Certificate of Physically Challenged / Leprosy cured if anyone has.
  6. Sports Certificate.
  7. Ex-Servicemen Certificate
  8. +2 marks statement (mandatory)
  9. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope
  10. SC/ST aspirants are exempted from the payment of Registration Fee for only one course.
  11. Two recent passport size photographs

Aspirants are selected for M.Phil. programmes based on merit list prepared on the basis of marks secured in the university entrance examination only.
