Madras University invites students to join their Distance Learning Programs which are available throughout the year for the Academic Session(June to May) as well as for Calendar Year Session(January to December).

In south India, Madras University’s Institute of Distance Education (UNOM IDE) is very popular for its different Under Graduate & Post Graduate programmes in distance method & teaching methodologies. The Institute of Distance Education at current provides 97 Degree Programs: Undergraduate 27, Postgraduate 21, Professional 18, Diploma 21, and Certificate 10. Professional and job oriented programs are now provided in collaboration with the various relevant industries from time to time.

UNOM IDE UG & PG Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria

BA, B.Sc & B.Com

Students must have passed 10th Standard and Three Year Diploma Course in Music recognized by the authorities, University of Madras.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Tamil Literature), Bachelor of Animation and Multimedia Technology & Bachelor of Music

Students must have passed 10th Standard and Three Year Diploma Course in Music recognized by the authorities, University of Madras.

BBA/BBM & BCA

The Admission is open to any student who has passed any of the following exams:

  • 12 or 13 years of education in any State in India or Abroad under 11+1 or 10+2 or 11+2 format
  • The Indian School Certificate Examination organized by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination in not less than 5 subjects of which ENGLISH shall be one.
  • Pre-Technical Examination organized after 11 years of study by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai.
  • Students eligible with G.C.E. [Advanced Level / Principal Level] with not less than 3 subjects in the ‘A’ Level with ENGLISH in the ‘O’ Level / SUBSIDIARY Level.
  • The Pre-University Examination organized earlier by the University of Madras or any other University accepted as equivalent.
  • The Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent exam will be considered.
  •  Two Years Establishation Course Examination of Annamalai and Madurai Kamaraj Universities
  • Students must have passed Plus two examinations of the National Open School, New Delhi.
  • Students must have Diploma in Commercial Exercise Certificate or Modern office exercise.
  •  Three Year Diploma Examinations organized by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai
  • The Senior School Certificate Examination [XII Standard] organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education is not less than 5 subjects of which ENGLISH shall be one.
  • Students must have passed Intermediate Examination [2 years] of Andhra Pradesh, Pre-Degree Examination [2 Years] of Kerala and Pre-University Examination [2 Years] of Karnataka under the 10+2 format.
  • Students must have Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering.
  • Aspirants who have already undergone their First Year and Second Year Undergraduate Degree Courses and passed or discontinued their studies via the Institute of Distance Education.

Master of Arts [MA] (Christian Studies)

Students must have passed B.Th. or B.Ph. or B.A. Christian Studies or B.A. Indian Religion or B.A. Philosophy.

Master of Arts [MA] (Economics)

Students must have passed B.A. Economics or Corporate Secretaryship or B.Sc. Mathematics or Statistics or B.Com. or B.B.A. or B.B.M. or any Undergraduate Social Sciences Degree.

Master of Arts [MA] (English)

Students must have passed B.A. Degree Examination providing English as the Main Subject of study under Part-III Core Course or B.A. / B.Sc. Degree Examinations under Part-I [or] Part-II Establishation Courses

Master of Music

B. Music [or] B.A. Indian Music [or] B.A. [or] B.Sc. with any subject as one of the main subjects [or] any other Degree.

MCA

B.C.A. / B.E.S. / B.A. Corporate Secretaryship / B.A. Economics / any other Bachelor’s Degree in any branch with Business Mathematics and Statistics or Mathematics / Statistics in Main / Allied level, or B.Sc. Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as allied subject, or B.E. / B.Tech / M.B.A., or A Bachelor’s Degree in any branch with Mathematics as one of the subject at the Higher Secondary level.

/ B.Sc. in Computer Science / Mathematics / Physics / Statistics / Applied Sciences, or B.Com / Bachelor of Bank Management / B.B.A. / B.L.M.

Master of Science [M.Sc.] (Information Technology)

Any Bachelor’s degree of not less than three years duration under 10+2+3 format having studied Mathematics or Statistics or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics or Mathematical Physics as the Main or Allied subject.

UNOM IDE UG & PG Admission 2018 Application Procedure

BA , B.Sc & BMM

  • The students can collect the prospectus and application form from the Institute / Study Centers / Spot Admission Centers / Participatory Institutions / Twinning Program Centers for Rs. 100, or by post by sending a demand draft of Rs. 150 to The Director, IDE., University of Madras, or via the official website for by paying INR 200 via online payment.
  • After filling the form cautiously, students have to send the form along with the original certificated mentioned below:
  • Detach the Application Form, Computer Coding Sheet, and Address Slip from the prospectus.
  • The Application form must be accompanied by All the Original Certificates and the Registration Fee of Rs.100/- for UG, Rs.150/- for PG, Rs.400 for M.B.A. (Executive), and Rs. 1000 for Professional courses.
  1. Transfer Certificate from the Head of the Institution where the participant last studied
  2. Statement of Marks of the Qualifying examination
  3. Provisional Pass Certificate / Diploma Certificate
  4. Authenticated translation in English duly attested by a Gazetted Officer, if certificates are in a language other than ENGLISH / TAMIL
  5. Equivalence Certificate” allocated by the Association of Indian Universities, for students who studied abroad
  6. One photograph each on  Application Form, Address Slip, and reverse side of the Coding Sheet

UNOM IDE UG & PG Admission Procedure 2018

Selection will be done on first cum first cater basis with respect to the number of available seats.

  • Admission centre has been set up by the Madras University at Institute of Distance Education (IDE) Building Chepauk. Students have to follow these steps to get admission.
  • First of all, you have to apply for distance courses via any of the three modes as mentioned in the application procedure.
  • After submission of the application form, you can collect the token from admission desk.
  • After that, you have to submit the attested photocopies of marks sheet & original documents for verification. After verification originals will be returned to the student.
  • Once your documents will be cross-checked, a provisional admission letter will be allowed.
  • After obtaining the provisional letter, you have to visit any discipline of Indian Overseas Bank (OBC) or Indian Bank for submission of the balance fee.

You required to download the application form, fill all the need information & submit it online. Students can also visit the spot centers situated all over India for spot admissions.

Scholarships Available:

SC/ST students are qualified for reimbursement of fees and the annual allowance of Rs. 500 for books.

Visually impaired or otherwise physically challenged aspirants can avail themselves of the State Government Scholarship for the Disabled.

Notes:

  • Admission cannot be claimed as a matter of right and the Institute reserves the right of admission
  • All the courses of the Institute are provided to the residents of India and also to foreign countries as per the discretion of the authorities
  • The admission of the defaulters will automatically stand canceled. They may, however, be readmitted to the same course on payment of  Rs. 500/- subject to approval by the authorities.
  • Aspirants are not permitted to remit the fees in installments.
