Karnataka University is a UGC affiliated institution situated in Dharwad, with A certification from NAAC. It provides vivid courses in the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Management, Science and Technology and social sciences. The University offers a lot of choices to rest our opinions upon which are namely, 50 Post Graduate Courses, 4 advanced diplomas, and 28 diplomas, 11 certificate courses, 26 M.Phil. And 42 Ph.D. programmes.

For those who are unable to pursue regular Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses opportunity of higher education is extended via external and correspondence modes by the University in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Social Sciences. In totality, the University offers a friendly atmosphere for advanced learning and shaping one's career.

There are 5 constituent colleges providing Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses in science, arts, commerce, fine arts, law, and education. These offer residential accommodation to 2600 students of Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses. There are 21 hostels in all, including a working women’s hostel and ladies hostels.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Arts- part 1

If you have opted for B.A part 1 you will have to choose one of the basic/MIL (Modern Indian languages) from the following subjects-

  • Additional English
  • Hindi, Urdu
  • English Kannada
  • Marathi
  • Sanskrit

You also have to choose one of the optional subjects from the following-

  • Kannada
  • Urdu
  • Economics
  • Sanskrit
  • English
  • Political Science
  • Marathi
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • History Archaeology
  • Hindi

Eligibility criteria

If you are ready to apply for the B.A Part 1 course then you must have passed from a PRE-UNIVERSITY COLLEGE(PUC/10+2) or its equivalent of the recognized higher secondary board either State /Center/JODC (3 years) diploma course with English paper.


Bachelor of Commerce part 1

If you have opted for B.com. part 1 you will have to choose one of the basic/MIL (Modern Indian languages) from the following subjects-

  • Marathi
  • Hindi, Urdu
  • Sanskrit
  • Additional English
  • English Kannada

You will be having the following mandatory subjects with the same branch course -

  • Managerial Economics
  • Financial Accounting-I
  • Secretarial Exercise
  • Modern Marketing

Eligibility criteria

If you are ready to apply for the B.com Part 1 course then you must have passed from a PRE-UNIVERSITY COLLEGE(PUC/10+2) or its equivalent of the recognized higher secondary board either State /Center/JODC (3 years) diploma course with English paper.


M.A. (Earlier) Languages

If you wish to opt for M.A in languages you will have the following options open to you-

  • Hindi
  • Sanskrit
  • Marathi
  • English
  • Urdu
  • Kannada

The university offers the Master’s degree in the above languages.

M.A. (Earlier) Social Science

If you wish to opt for M.A in Social Science you will have the following subjects in the same branch open to you-

  • Economics
  • Political Science
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Archaeology
  • Sociology

Eligibility Criteria

To pick for M.A in languages or Social Science specifically, you must have passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/BCA/BBA/BCS/B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Agri)/B.Sc. (Home Science) degree examinations of this university or from any other recognized university.


M.Com (Earlier)

To determine yourself for M.com degree from this university you required to choose one of the following subjects for the same branch course-

  • International Business
  • Marketing Management
  • Strategic Management
  • Organizational Behavior
  • Financial Management

Eligibility criteria

You must have passed B.Com degree of this university or any other recognized university.

Application Procedure

You can just click on the link offered in the University Website www.kud.ac.in or http://kudscealumni.inif you wish to download the prescribed Application form for the respective courses.

Document Requirements for applying online 

Proof of Qualification: You have to submit the attested/notarized photocopies of the last qualifying exam and statement of marks (degree certificate/mark sheet)

In case you seeking to change your name due to marriage or any other reason, then you have to offer the following documents:

  1. Change of Name Application Form.
  2. Photocopy of the Decision (Decree) from the Court, containing the declaration of change of name.
  3. Advertised copy of Newspaper.

Note:  Affidavit, Marriage Certificate etc. will not be accepted for Change of name.

Proof of Date of Birth

  • You are also free to submit an extract from the Passport (attested copies)
  • You can also offer Photocopy of SSLC/SSC Marks Card or Transfer Certificate showing Date of Birth attested by the Gazetted Officer/Notary
  • You will be required to get 1 photocopy of the above-mentioned documents attested/notarized by a gazetted officer of the Government.
  • Birth Certificate allowed by Municipality or Local Bodies or any Government or semi-Government Institutions (Attested) will be accepted.
  • You can submit an Extract from the School Admission Register certified by the Head of your Institution.
  • You have to offer one copy of the document which mentions your Date of Birth.

Submit the Application Form

  • Duly filled-in application form with necessary enclosures and fees remittance slip should be submitted in the Office of the related college.
  • Make Payment of fee either via Online Payment or with a DD as specified below
  • Please write Provisional Enrolment Number of your Application on the backside of Photograph and also inscribe the envelope with the same.
  • Demand Draft (along with one photocopy in case of DD Payment) / Printed copy of the receipt in case of online payment.
  • You required to download the ECS (electronic clearing service) form from the website of the University, fill it up, get your banker’s signature and send the same along with the documents.

Note: If you have already enrolled yourself last year in the Correspondence Courses of the university name, B.A Part-II & III; B.Com Part-II & III; M.A./M.Com (Final Year) then you will be receiving the application form for admission along with the marks card for which they appeared for examination in May 2014

However, if you have passed/failed in B.A./B.Com Part-I or II and M.A./M.Com Earlier before 2014 may contact the Office in person to avail the application form


As per the Government of India notification for reservation of seats for OBC/SC/ST and age relaxation for SC/ST will apply.

Admission Schedule and Fees Details

NOTE- Remittance of fees

You required to read the instructions cautiously given in the prospectus before remitting the fees.

You have to pay the amount only for the available study materials before remittance of fees and the availability of the material should be confirmed from the prospectus

If you have passed other than PUC of Karnataka State Pre University Board, Bangalore then you should remit the fees of 1000/- in addition to the fees prescribed for the course.
