Karnataka State Women’s University (KSWU) also known as KSWU was founded in 2003 and it the first university exclusively for women in Karnataka recognised under the UGC Act. The University offers postgraduate (PG) and M.Phil./ Ph.D. courses in different branches of arts, commerce, science, technology, education etc.

The university provides the following undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) courses in different branches:

Aspirants who satisfy the eligibility criteria can register themselves by obtaining the related application form and submitting it upon completion along with the prescribed fee.General aspirants must deposit an application fee of Rs. 480/- whereas for SC/ST aspirants, the fee is Rs. 240/- to register for admission to M.Phil. programme.

Aspirants will be selected for admission to the above-mentioned programmes on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination. In case of MBA and MCA, admission is done via entrance test organizeed by Karnataka examination authority.

Eligibility Criteria for KSWU (Karnataka State Women University) UG & PG Admissions 2018

The following section contains information regarding eligibility criteria for various courses provideed by KSWU.

B.Ed

The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science of this university or any other university recognised by UGC with minimum 50% aggregate for General and OBC and 45% for SC/ST aspirants.

B.P.Ed

An aspirant must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch.

MA

Master of Arts (MA) is provideed in the following branches:

Music and Dance – (40 seats):

An aspirant must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch with 50% aggregate marks.

Urdu – (40 seats):

  • An aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree with Urdu as basic in the 2-year programme and must have secured minimum 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST aspirants.
  • An aspirant must possess BA degree with Urdu as an optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from a recognised university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).

Hindi – (40 seats):

  • An aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree with Hindi as basic in 2-year programme and secure minimum 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST aspirants.
  • An aspirant must possess BA degree with Hindi as an optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from a recognised university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).

English – (40 seats):

  • An aspirant must possess BA degree with English as an optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from a recognised university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).
  • An aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in English as basic in 2-year programme and secure minimum 50% marks for GM, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST aspirants.

Kannada – (40 seats):

  • The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in Kannada/ folk literature as basic in 2-year programme and secure minimum 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST aspirants.
  • The aspirant must possess BA degree with Kannada/ folk literature as an optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from a recognised university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).

History – (40 seats):

  • The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree with History as basic in 2-year programme and secure minimum 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST aspirants.
  • An aspirant must possess BA degree with History as the optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from the recognised university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).

Journalism and Mass Communication – (40 seats):

The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks need but in case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively from a recognised university.

Lib. Sc – (40 seats): & I.

An aspirant must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch with 50% aggregate marks.

Sociology – (40 seats):

  • An aspirant must possess BA degree in Sociology as one of the optional subjects with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  • At Least percentage need for SC/ST and OBC aspirants are 40% and 45% respectively.

Social Work – (45 seats):

An aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks need but in case of SC/ST and OBC 40% and 45% marks respectively from a recognised university.

Women Studies – (40 seats):

An aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks need but in case of SC/ST and OBC 40% and 45% marks respectively from a recognised university.

Political Science – (40 seats):

  • At Least percentage need for SC/ST and OBC is 40% and 45% respectively
  • An aspirant must possess BA degree in Political science as one of the optional subjects with 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in optional subject separately.

M.Sc

Master of Sciences (M.Sc.) is provideed in the following branch:

Bioinformatics – (29 seats):

An aspirant must possess Bachelor’s degree in Life science (including Agriculture, Pharmacy and Fishery), Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Biochemistry, Biology, BCA, Microbiology, BE/B. Tech. Biotechnology with 50% aggregate marks need. In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least marks need are 40% and 45% respectively from a recognised university with B.Sc. Chemistry as one of the optional subject or B.Pharm.  with Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Physics – (30 seats):

An aspirant must possess a B.Sc. degree with Physics as an optional subject and 50% aggregate marks.

Zoology – (30 seats):

An aspirant must possess a B.Sc. degree examination with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least marks need are 40% and 45% respectively.

Botany – (20+9 seats):

An aspirant must possess B.Sc. degree examination with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least percentage need is 40% and 45% respectively with Zoology as one of the optional subjects

Statistics – (30 seats):

An aspirant must possess Bachelor’s degree in Science with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least marks need are 40% and 45% with Botany as one of the subjects.

Chemistry – (30 seats):

An aspirant must possess B.Sc. degree examination with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are needed.

Electronics – (20+10 seats):

An aspirant must possess B.Sc. degree with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least percentage need is 40% and 45% respectively with Statistics as one of the optional subjects.

Mathematics – (40 seats):

An aspirant must possess Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with 50% aggregate marks.

In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least marks need are 40% and 45% respectively from a recognised university with Physics, Mathematics and Electronics or Electronics, Mathematics and Computer Science or Physics and Mathematics as optional subjects.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry – (20+10 seats):

An aspirant must possess a degree with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC 40% and 45% marks respectively are needed from any recognised university.

Biotechnology – (29 seats):

The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in Biology/Life Sciences with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, at least marks need are 40% and 45% with Chemistry as one of the subjects.

Computer Science – (35 seats):

An aspirant must possess any degree with 50% aggregate marks.

MBA/PGDM

An aspirant must possess a graduate degree in any branch with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are needed.

M.Com

Aspirants must possess a degree in B.Com/BBM/BBA/BCS with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are needed.

MCA

An aspirant must possess a degree in any branch with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are needed.

M.Ed

Aspirants must possess B.Ed. degree with 55% aggregate marks but in case of SC/ST, 50% marks are needed.

M.P.Ed

Aspirants must possess a B.P.Ed. Degree with 50% aggregate marks.

Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications & Post Graduate Diploma in Arts

Performing Arts – (25 seats):

Aspirants must have passed Music (Hindustani Vocal).

Kannada – (10 seats):

Aspirants must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch.

Women Studies – (10 seats):

Aspirants must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch.

Ideal Womanhood – (20 seats):

Aspirants must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch.

Computer Science – (20 seats):

Aspirants must possess a bachelor’s degree in any branch.

Yoga Studies – (25 seats):

Aspirants must possess a degree in any branch with 45% marks.

M.Sc, MCA & MBA/PGDM

  • For MBA and MCA admission, students will be shortlisted on the basis of the entrance test organizeed by Karnataka examination authority.
  • Selection of the aspirant will be based on their merit in the qualifying examination
