The Centre invites applications for admission to the different research programmes for the academic year 2016-17. The admission for MS and Ph.D. programmes are based on academic performance and an Interview. The programmes provideed are Master of Science (MS) programme in both Engineering and Research. It also provides Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. programmes. The admission for the Integrated Ph.D. programmes is via the JAM and/or JNCASR’s written test, followed by an Interview.

Eligibility
You should have an M Sc., B E, B Tech, B.Pharm., M E, M.Tech. or MBBS degree with at least 50% marks in your highest University examination.
You should also have qualified in any of the following examinations: GATE /GPAT/UGC -/ CSIR - NET-JRF / ICMR - JRF / DBT-JRF/JEST / INSPIRE (JRF). The award certificate of such test should be invalidity duration as on August 1st, 2016.
M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering

Eligibility
You should have a at least of 55% marks at the Bachelor’s level in B.Sc./B.E/ B.Tech. If you are appearing for your final examination in Bachelor's course, you can also apply. as eligible to the area.
There are two forms. One single form for both the MS courses and the Ph.D. programme, and a separate form for the Integrated Ph.D. programme.
For MS courses and Ph.D. programme:
You should register for this programme online on the Centre’s website. Fill in the Application form with the need details.
You must keep the details or particulars or copy of Class 10th, Class 12th, Bachelor's mark sheets and the details of GATE /GPAT/ JEST /UGC - CSIR - NET-JRF/ ICMR - JRF / DBT-JRF/ INSPIRE –JRF, as eligible before starting to fill the online application, as you with be required these for the details in the form.
You should note that there are no fees involved to apply for these programmes.
You need to offer names, addresses, e-mail and phone numbers of two people who can tell the Centre about your academic capabilities, and who are ready to give letters of recommendation in the space offered. For example, these could be teachers in your university or Research Supervisors who know you.
You should then submit the Application Form online only.

You should register for this programme online on the Centre’s website. You can apply to more than one area.
You must keep the details or particulars or a copy of Class 10th, Class 12th, Bachelor's mark sheets and JAM results before starting to fill the online application, as you with be required these for the details in the form.
You should then submit the Application Form online only.
For the Application fee, you should pay via a Demand Draft of Rs. 500 in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, payable at Bangalore and send it to the address mentioned below by post, quoting your application number and the area(s) of research. One Demand Draft (non-refundable) is sufficient for multiple choice of areas.

For Integrated Courses :
You will be selected via the Joint Admission Test (JAM) for Master’s and/or JNCASR’s written test, followed by an Interview at Bangalore if you are shortlisted. The JNCASR written entrance test JNCASR, Bangalore. If you are shortlisted for the screening tests, you will be called for an interview the same day or the next day.
Ph.D. (Material Science), Ph.D. (Biological Sciences) & Ph.D. (Materials Engineering)
Your selection will be subject to excellent academic background score /percentile /rank obtained in national fellowship exams and performance in the Interview. Also, the Centre will be able to find out your research interests during the procedure. The aim of the interview will be to find out if your skills match the grades/marks that you have obtained so far.
