The Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), is an architecture and fine arts university founded in 1940, as the "College of Fine Arts". JNAFAU has two schools which provide several undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. research programs in Architecture, Facilities and Services Planning, Interior Designing, Planning, painting, Applied Arts, Photography, Animation, Sculpture, etc.JNAFAU is an Architecture and Fine Arts University. It is one of its own kind in the entire country as it is exclusively devoted to the development of Applied Art, Painting, Sculpture, Photography and Animation. Not only this, it serves the art education seek of three regions - Andhra, Telangana, and Rayalaseema. Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University were established by Act of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature No.31 of 2008 as result of the bifurcation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University owe its existence to the College of Fine Arts which was established in the erstwhile Nizam State in the year 1940. The College gradually grew in stature as the Government College of Arts and Architecture under the management of the Department of Technical Education, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad.  

The University provides the following Post Graduate degree programme in Arts to its students every year

  • M.F.A (Master of Fine Arts)

Only aspirants with the relevant qualifying degree can register for the above-mentioned programmes.   Aspirants can register for admission by filling in the application form and submitting it along with the need procedure fee. Admission to the MFA programmes is done on the basis of marks secured by the aspirants in the entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Master of Fine Arts [MFA] (Applied Arts)

The students must possess a bachelors degree in fine arts 

The students must have a minimum of 50% in aggregate

The students have to pass the entrance exam conducted by the institute. Aspirants should possess bachelor’s degree in fine arts or any other equivalent stream from this university or any other recognized university.

Disciplines:  Applied Art-25 seats / Photography (P.T.P.G.) -20 seats / Painting-15 seats / Sculpture-10 seats/Applied Art (P.T.P.G.) - 15 seats

Period of the Programme: 2 years

Eligibility for BFA:

Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree can be pursued by those students who have successfully completed their 12th examinations in any stream from a recognized board.

The students must have the minimum of 55% in aggregate.

 Jawaharlal  Nehru Architecture and fine arts University conduct an Aptitude Test as well and on the basis of the test, the final decision for admission is made.

Step To Apply

Master of Fine Arts [MFA] (Applied Arts)

  • Aspirants want admission to MFA programme can download the related application form available at the university website and submit it upon completion within the stipulated time. All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled-in with the relevant information.
  • Along with the finished applications, the aspirant must also submit the need fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- in case of SC / SCA / ST aspirants) via DD, drawn at any nationalized bank in favor of “Registrar, JNAFAU” and payable at Hyderabad
  • Duly filled-in applications along with the DD and necessary enclosures should be submitted, in person or via post, to the following address:

Note:  Aspirant must retain the photocopies of application form and application number for subsequent use.


The aspirant must send the photo affixed and duly signed application along with the following photocopies:

  • Transfer Certificate   
  • Community Certificate (For OC aspirants community certificate not need)   
  • Nativity Certificate if need
  • HSC/CBSE/other equivalent mark sheet
  • Certificates for Special categories, if need     
  • Graduation certificate and joint declaration form, if need     

Admission Procedure

Aspirants will be selected to the above-mentioned programme on the basis of their marks in the entrance examination

  •  The aspirants must be eligible to apply for the course
  • The aspirants must fill all information mentioned in the application form
  • The aspirants must also appear for the personal interview
