Founded in 1969, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central university, situated in New Delhi. The university has acquired a grade of 3.9 out of 4 from NAAC, the highest grade honored to any educational institution in the country and is considered among the top universities in the country. It has 10 Schools and four special centers which provide Undergraduate (BA Hons.), Post Graduate (MA, M.Sc, MCA) and several integrated research courses.

The university provides the following Post Graduate programmes in multiple branchs:

  • Master of Arts (MA)

Selection of the aspirant for MA, MSc and MCA programme will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination, organizeed by the university. Aspirants can register themselves by submitting the application fee of Rs. 300/- via online payment modes or offline mode i.e. demand draft (DD).

M.A. Arts and AestheticsAspirants must possess bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 formats from this university or any other recognised university with minimum 50% marks.
M.A. PoliticsAspirants must possess bachelor’s degree in any branch under 10+2+3 formats from this university or any other recognised university with minimum 50% aggregate marks
M.A. Economics

Aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in the following subjects: Economics (Honours) with mathematics as subsidiary subject; OR mathematics (Honours) with economics as subsidiary subject OR statistics (Hons) with mathematics and economics as subsidiary subjects from this university or any other recognised university with 50% aggregate marks.

The aspirant who has passed any oter bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics as subjects with minimum 60% marks are also applicable to apply.

M.Sc in Life SciencesAspirants must possess bachelor’s degree in biological, physical or agricultural science or biotechnology under 10+2+3 format of education from this university or any other recognised university with minimum 55% aggregate of marks.
M.Sc in PhysicsAspirant must possess Bachelor’s degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 format of education with at least 55% marks in the aggregate (or in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined), or in Physics Honours; Aspirants having B.Tech. (Electronics/Electrical/ Mechanical/Computer) degree are also applicable to apply for M.Sc Physics

MCA

The aspirant must possess bachelor’s degree in any branch with an aptitude in mathematics under 10+2+3 format of education with minimum 55% of marks.

MA , M.Sc & MCA

Online Application:

  • Aspirants can register themselves for admission to M.Sc, MA and MCA programme via online application procedure available at the official university website.
  • Application fee of Rs. 300/- should also be submitted along with finished applications via the online payment modes such as net banking, credit/ debit card etc.

Offline Application:

  • DD should be drawn in favor of "Jawaharlal Nehru University", payable at New Delhi and the letter should completely indicate the program of study for which the Application Form is the need
  • Duly filled-in applications, in all respects, along with the copies of all the necessary enclosures should access via registered post/ speed post at the following address:
  • Aspirants can also request for the application form to be sent by post along with the prospectus by sending Crossed Demand Draft of Rs.300/- along with the self-addressed envelope.
  • Natives of Nepal can also obtain the prospectus and application form by sending the demand draft of amount Rs. 400/- or equivalent in USD

  • Admission for MA (Foreign languages) programme is done on the basis of written entrance exam (70%) and viva-voice (30%), both organized by the university.
  • Selection of the aspirant to M.Sc, MCA and MA (Except Foreign languages) is done on the basis of written entrance examination, organized by the university.

Reservation Criteria

27% seats are reserved for OBC aspirants (non-creamy layer), 15% & 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC and ST aspirants respectively in all programs of study, 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) aspirants
