Founded in 1969, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central university, situated in New Delhi. The university has acquired a grade of 3.9 out of 4 from NAAC, the highest grade honored to any educational institution in the country and is considered among the top universities in the country. It has 10 Schools and four special centers which provide Undergraduate (BA Hons.), Post Graduate (MA, M.Sc, MCA) and several integrated research courses.

The university provides only one Under Graduate programme i.e. Bachelor of Arts (regular and lateral entry mode) in several languages including German, French, Spanish etc. Selection of the aspirant will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination, organized by the university. Aspirants can register themselves by submitting the application fee of Rs. 300/- via online payment modes or offline mode i.e. demand draft (DD).

Eligibility:

  • Aspirant must have passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent examination from this university or any other recognised university with at least 45% aggregate of marks (OR)
  • Candidates must have attained 17 years of age as on October 1, 2016
  • Aspirants having certificates allowed by madrasas with minimum 45% aggregate of marks are also applicable to apply

BA Hons (Lateral Entry):

Aspirant must have passed the first year of Bachelor's degree or an exam recognized as equivalent thereto with minimum 50% marks under 10+2+3 format of education with adequate proficiency in German

BA

Aspirants can apply either online or offline

Online Application:

  • Aspirants can register themselves for admission to BA (Regular & Lateral Entry) programme via online application procedure available at the official university website.
  • Application fee of Rs. 300/- should also be submitted along with finished applications via the online payment modes such as net banking, credit/ debit card etc.

Offline Application:

  • Natives of Nepal can also obtain the prospectus and application form by sending the demand draft of amount Rs. 400/- or equivalent in USD
  • Duly filled-in applications, in all respects, along with the copies of all the necessary enclosures should access via registered post/ speed post at the following address:
  • DD should be drawn in favor of "Jawaharlal Nehru University", payable at New Delhi and the letter should completely indicate the program of study for which the Application Form is need
  • Aspirants can also request for the application form to be sent by post along with the prospectus by sending Crossed Demand Draft of Rs.300/- along with the self-addressed envelope.

Enclosures:

  1. Two self-attested copies of the Matriculation, Higher Secondary Pre-University of Indian School Certificate or Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an equivalent examination certificate, showing the age/date of birth of the aspirant
  2. A Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended
  3. Two self-attested copies of the statement of marks obtained by the aspirant in Senior School or their equivalent examination
  4. SC/ST/OBC Certificate, if belonging to SC/ST/OBC category
  5. A Medical Certificate for PWD Aspirants certifying nature & percentage of disability allowed by the competent medical authority
  6. Migration Certificate (in original) from the Head of the Institution/University last attended.

BA

BA (First year)

Selection of the aspirant is done on the basis of his/her performance in the entrance examination, organized by the university itself.

BA (Lateral Entry)

Selection of the aspirant is done on the basis of his/her performance in the entrance examination (70%) and viva voice (30%), both organized by the university itself.

Reservation Criteria

For 27% seats are reserved for OBC aspirants (non creamy layer), 15% & 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST aspirants respectively in all programs of study, 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) aspirants
