JNTU Anantapur invites aspirants to join their different specializations provided in M.Tech and M.Pharm courses. It became a constituent college of the university in 1972. JNTU Anantapur started functioning in 2008 from one of its constituent colleges. It is one of the most highly ranked technical universities of the country, coming up with different schemes to offer quality education to the students. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University is the new name of 'The College of Engineering, Vishakhapatnam' which was founded in 1946.
The admission to research programs is based on an entrance test organized by JNTU Anantapur. The day and time of examination are conveyed to the aspirants who have applied. JNTU Anantapur only offers External (Part-Time) research courses. The M.S. courses mentioned below are research-based only. The full-time research courses are offered by its constituent colleges. The admission is based on the marks scored in the test, along with an interview. The award of the degree is not based on regular session or coursework.

The aspirant should have an M.Sc. or M.Tech. They also have to submit a letter of employment from their Institution/Organization. degree in Biotechnology.
Engineering and Pharmacy stream aspirants should have an Engineering/Pharmacy graduate degree along with a Postgraduate degree in the relevant branch.
For Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, the aspirant should have a B.Tech and M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering department. They also have to take permission to take a leave of at least 6 months at least twice in the total period of the research to appear for examination and complete the thesis.
The aspirants who work in JNTU or any of its constituent colleges will be seen as internal aspirants. Their seats will be over and above the advertised seats.
Eligibility for Supervisor/Co-Supervisor:
The supervisor should be a teacher/researcher in an Institution/Organization.
A supervisor can only be allotted 8 Ph.D. students and 5 M.Phil./M.S. students.
If the supervisor is external, a co-supervisor is to be recruited by the University.
He/she should have a Ph.D. in the relevant branch along with a minimum of 7 years of teaching/research work in which at least 2 years should be posted Ph.D.
All aspirants have to identify and obtain the consent of a supervisor who has all the necessary qualification for supervision.

Employment Criteria (for external aspirants):
The aspirants who seeking to organize their research program as external aspirants must be working in an Educational/ Scientific /R&D/Industrial/Government Organization for at least one year and should fulfill all the eligibility criteria mentioned above. degree in Chemical Engineering/ Dairy Technology/ Biotechnology.
The aspirant must have scored at least 55% (50% for SC/ST) in their qualifying degree.
For Biotechnology, the aspirant must have an M.Sc. degree in BioTechnology/ Chemistry/ Botany/ Zoology/ Biochemistry /Food Tech./ Microbiology or The aspirant should have an M.Tech. or The aspirant should have an M.C.A. degree.
For Pharmacy streams, the aspirants with a Pharm.D. degree are also qualified.
For Food and Technology, the aspirant must have an M.Sc. degree in Chemistry/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Home Science/ Agriculture/ Horticulture/Food Tech./ Food Sciences &Nutrition/Veterinary Science. Or
The aspirant should have an M.Sc./M.Sc.(Comp. They can continue to work in the stated organization.
Such aspirants will have to declare that they wish to complete the degree as an external aspirant at the time of admission.
M.Phil. (English) & M.Phil (Science)
Duration: 2 to 4 years
Seats: 20 (5 per branch)
Eligibility: The aspirant must have a Postgraduate or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% (50% for SC/ST) in the relevant branch.
Master of Science [M.S] (Research)
Duration: 2 to 4 years
Seats: 35 (5 in each branch)

Eligibility: The aspirant should have a B.E./B.Tech. It is not a regular session/coursework based program.

The filled in application form, a plan of research work (in 500 words), three self-addressed stamped envelopes (size: 22x10 cm stamp: Rs.5/-) and a demand draft of Rs.1,000/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ST) in favor of 'The Registrar, JNTU Anantapur' payable at any national bank, preferably SBI is to be submitted through post/courier or in person.

The final selection is based on an entrance test and/or an interview.
The test is organized by JNTU Anantapur and is of one hour's duration.
The date and time of the test will be intimated to the qualified aspirants by the University.

The aspirants must collect they admit cards from the Director of admissions, JNTU Anantapur one day prior to the exam.
The aspirant who seek admission in the Ph.D. course and have eligible in UGC/CSIR (JRF)/NET/SLET/SET/GATE/GPAT, or possess an M.Phil. degree (not through distance education) required not appear for the examination.
