Jadavpur University is a public state university situated in Kolkata, West Bengal. It has two campuses: the main campus at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt Lake.  It was upgraded to a full-fledged university in 1955. The University has its origin in the erstwhile National Council of Education.

Jadavpur University has been ranked within Top 10 Indian Research Institutions as per report of International Comparative Performance of India s Research Base (2009-14). It was Re-accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.68 on a four-point scale at A Grade for a duration of five years in 2014.

The University invites Applications for admission to the undergraduate programmes for the academic year 2017-17. The programmes provided are Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) Programme for a period of 4 years and the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) Programme for a period of 5 years.

The admission to the programmes will be based on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2017 to be held on May 17th, 2017. The entire application procedure is online and must be finished between January 5th, 2017 and February 29, 2017 with further dates being available for uploading of documents and payment of fees. The reservation policy will be as per the state government rules but aspirant will have to have the domicile in West Bengal only.

Eligibility: (For both Programmes)

Aspirants must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in the regular class method of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board with:

  • At Least of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD aspirants) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD aspirants) as well as passed in English with a at least of 30% (for all categories of aspirants) in the stated qualifying examination.
  • Personal passing mark in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

B.Arch

Aspirants must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in the regular class method of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board with:

  • The aspirant must qualify either in the NATA-2017 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) organized by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi or in Paper 2 of JEE Mains organized by Central Board of Secondary Education. Necessary document in the regards will have to be produced at the time of counseling.
  • Personal passing mark in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  • At Least of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD aspirants) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD aspirants) as well as pass in English with a at least of 30% (for all categories of aspirants) in the stated qualifying examination.

B.Pharm

Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme (4 Years)

Eligibility:

Aspirants must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in the regular class method of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board with:

  • At Least of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD aspirants) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD aspirants) as well as pass in English with a at least of 30% (for all categories of aspirants) in the stated qualifying examination.
  • Personal passing mark in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

Bachelor of Pharmacy – Ayurveda Programme (4 Years)

Eligibility:

Aspirants must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in the regular class method of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board with:

  • At Least of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology has taken together for general aspirants (40% for S.C/S.T aspirants)
  • Personal passing marks in Physic, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English and Vernacular (or any other fifth subject)

Jadavpur University UG Admissions 2018 How To Apply

BE/B.Tech, B.Pharm & B.Arch

For WBJEE:

You should fill the Application Form online on the official WBJEE website. You must then choose the Type E Application.

WBJEE- 2017 Application Form will be broadly categorized into three steps-

  • Fee payment
  • Document uploading
  • Filling of individual details

You must fill in your Individual Details. If there is any error, you will not be able to accurate it later.

Document Uploading: You will then be directed to Document Uploading. You can take a print out of the Confirmation Page after final submission of the Application for future references. The page size of the document should be in the A4 pattern. The exam would be based on class XI, XII Syllabus. Distribution of questions is as below:

Application Fee: Once the documents are successfully uploaded, the system will enter into the Fee Payment. You can pay the Application Fee of Rs. 500 + Bank Service Charges either by Debit Card/Credit Card or by Allahabad Bank Challan.

BE/B.Tech & B.Arch

For all Programmes except B.Pharm. (Ayurveda):

You will be selected on the basis of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2017.

In both the papers, questions will be classified into three categories – category 1, category 2 and category3. Questions in the exam will be of multiple choice/ objective type. There will be two papers. Paper I will be of Mathematics for a period of 2 hours. Paper II will be of Physics and Chemistry, also for a period of 2 hours.

The category-wise marking scheme is as follows:

Category 1- For each accurate response, one mark will be honored. However, if you mark one accurate and one inaccurate response then no marks will be honored.

For marking more than 1 response, marks will be deducted.

Category 3- In this section, more than 1 response can be correct. For marking more than 1 response, marks will be deducted.

Category 2- For each accurate response, 2 marks will be allotted and negative marking of 0.50 marks will be implemented for wrong responses. Negative making will not be done in this section. You might have to mark all the accurate responses, for which 2 marks will be honored. There shall also be negative marking with 0.25 marks being deducted for every inaccurate response.

Bachelor of Pharmacy [B.Pharm] (Ayurveda)

You will be selected on the basis of merit. However, aspirants with rank in WBJEE 2017 and/or AIEEE 2017 will be given preference.

Important Notes

  • You must be a citizen of India for admission to any of the above courses.
  • Age (For all courses): You must be minimum 17 years of age as on December 31st, 2017. There is no upper age limit.
  • Passing marks in any subject for academic eligibility shall imply pass marks in theory and practical person, as eligible, as specified by the related Council/Board.
