 Indian Law Institute is a deemed university which was founded in 1956 primarily with the objective of promoting and organizing legal research. The Institute is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and subscribes to 270 present legal periodicals. In 2005, the university enrolled its first batch of L.L.M and Ph.D. program.

The University provides the following research course to its students every year:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) – (5 years)

Aspirants can get admission to the above mentioned research courses on the basis of their performance in the entrance test, organized by the university.

Aspirants can register themselves for the above mentioned research course by submitting duly filled-in applications along with the enrolment fee of amount Rs. 2000/- via the available payment modes. Foreign or NRI aspirants can register themselves to the above mentioned courses by submitting the admission fee of amount $100.

Eligibility Criteria for ILI Ph.D. Admissions 2018

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Law

  • The aspirant must possess L.L.M degree from this university or any other recognised university with at least 55% of marks.
  • The aspirant must have to submit the brief research plan for admission.
  • The aspirant must be physically and mentally fit for admission to the Ph.D. course.
  • 5% relaxation in marks will be given to aspirants belong to SC/ST category and 5% relaxation in marks will be given to physically handicapped aspirants.
  • 10% relaxation in marks will be given to Kashmiri migrant aspirants.

ILI Ph.D. Admissions 2018 How To Apply

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Law

  • Foreign aspirant or NRI’s can register themselves to the above mentioned research courses by submitting the admission fee of amount $100.
  • The aspirant can also obtain the prospectus along with the application form by Registered Book Post/Courier by sending a request letter along with Rs. 1100/- via DD drawn in favor of Indian Law Institute and payable at New Delhi. The envelope of the letter requesting the Prospectus must be super-scribed at the left top corner as “REQUEST FOR PROSPECTUS– 2016”
  • Aspirants can download the application form available at the university website and submit them upon completion along with the procedure fee of amount Rs. 3000/- via Net banking/Debit/Credit card and Demand Draft.
  • The aspirant can submit finished applications either online or in person or by Registered Post/ Speed Post/ Courier/ Messenger along with the enclosures at the following address:
  • Aspirants can also purchase the application form from the university admission counter upon paying INR 1000. At the time of submission of such applications, the aspirant has to pay Rs. 2000/- towards procedure fee

ILI Ph.D. Admissions 2018 Admission Procedure

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Law

  • Aspirants will be called for Presentation of their Research Proposal and Interview according to the marks secured in the university entrance test.
  • Selection of the aspirant to the above mentioned research courses is done on the basis of entrance test, organized by the university.

ILI Ph.D. Admissions 2018 Reservation Criteria

2 seats in each programme will be reserved for the aspirants belonging to Jammu & Kashmir state.
