Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science. The institute provides admission to undergraduate programmes and dual degree programmes every year

Aspirants want admission to B.Tech./Dual Degree courses should register via the online application procedure from the official IIST website and pay the need procedures fee via the generated challan.Applications submitted online only will be considered for procedures under any circumstances.

Applicable aspirants will need to appear for JEE (Mains) and JEE (Advanced) in order to get admission to IIST B.Tech./Dual Degree programmes. Final selection for admission will be done on the basis of marks scored by the aspirant in both the exams.

IIST B.Tech  Admissions 2018 Eligibility Criteria

BE/B.Tech

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) – 4 years

  • Aerospace Engineering – 60 seats
  • Avionics – 60 seats

Dual Degree (B.Tech. + M.S./M.Tech.) – 5 years (Optical Engineering) – 20 seats

Eligibility:

Qualifying Examination

  • Aspirants must have secured minimum 70% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in the qualifying examination.
  • Aspirants should have passed their Qualifying Examination (10+2 or Equivalent), with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

  • B.Tech.(Physics) + M.S.(Solid State Physics) – 20 seats
  • B.Tech.(Physics) + M.S.(Earth System Sciences) – 20 seats
  • B.Tech.(Physics) + M.Tech. Those belonging to SC/ST/PD category should require an aggregate of minimum 60% marks in the qualifying examination
  • B.Tech.(Physics) + M.S.(Astronomy & Astrophysics) – 20 seats

Citizenship & Date of Birth

  • Aspirants should be of Indian nationality and must be born on or after October 1, 1991
  • Aspirants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PD) categories must be born on or after October 1, 1986

JEE(Main) & JEE(Advanced)–2016 Examination

  • Aspirants must appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) organized by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to qualify for Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), organized by IITs.
  • The aspirant must secure the at least prescribed category-wise marks in JEE (Advanced) as given below:

IIST B.Tech  Admissions 2018 How to Apply

BE/B.Tech

Aspirants should register for B.Tech/Dual degree admissions via the online admission portal available at the official IIST website.

Upon successful submission of all the relevant details, the aspirant must download and take the print-out of the generated “Bank Challan” for remitting the need application fee.

The aspirant should submit the fee in the bank with the help of “Challan” and obtain the transaction details.

Enter the bank transaction details using Aspirant’s login and upload the receipt of bank challan in order to clear the registration procedure.

Aspirants will be selected for admission to B.Tech/Dual Degree programme on the basis of their scores in JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced).

IIST B.Tech  Admissions 2018 Reservation Criteria

Limited seats are reserved for aspirants belonging to certain categories as per eligible rules of the Government of India.

IIST B.Tech  Admissions 2018 Notes

The qualifying examination should be any of the following:

  • HSC (10+2) examination organized by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) etc.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
  • The final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
  • Senior Secondary School Examination organized by the National Institute of Open Schooling with minimum 5 subjects
  • Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or abroad recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the (AIU)
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge /Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
  • Vocational Higher Secondary Examination
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination organized by a recognised Board/University
  • In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the aspirant should have passed minimum one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at a previous level
