Indian Maritime University, Chennai is a central university under the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with a focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other concerned fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas.

Indian Maritime University (IMU) invites applications for admission to B.Sc., B.Tech. and MBA Programs provideed by the university. The admissions will be organizeed via the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) organizeed online at its 36 affiliated Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria for IMU B.Sc., B.Tech. and MBA Admissions 2018

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Nautical Science)

B.Sc. Courses provideed:

  • 3-Year B.Sc. in Maritime Science
  • 3-Year B.Sc. in Ship Building and Repair
  • 3-Year B.Sc. in Nautical Science

Eligibility:

  • You must possess good binocular vision (fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation 
  • You are also not allowed to wear glasses and your vision should be 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately
  • The applying aspirant must have 10+2 examination with 60% Marks in PCM and 50% Marks in English at HSC

Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Marine Engineering)

B.Tech courses provideed:

  • 4-Year B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
  • 4-Year B.Tech in Marine Engineering

Eligibility:

  • One must have 10+2 examination with 60% Marks in PCM and 50% Marks in English at HSC
  • You must also possess good binocular vision (fusion faculty and a full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation
  • there should not be any degree of squint or any morbid condition of eyes or of the eyelids that is liable to aggravate or recur, the pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequelae

Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Port & Shipping Management) & Master of Business Administration [MBA] (International Transportation and Logistics Management)

MBA Programme:

  • MBA in Port and Shipping Management
  • MBA in International Transportation and Logistics Management

Eligibility:

You should have any graduation degree with at least 50% of aggregate marks.


How to apply for IMU (Indian Maritime University) B.Sc., B.Tech. and MBA Admissions 2018?

B.Sc, BE/B.Tech & MBA/PGDM

You have to apply online at the official University website.

Step 1: You should visit the website and download the application form current on the IMUCET 2018 hyperlink.

Step 2: Fill the Application form and upload a Passport size colour photograph of size 156cm × 156cm and your scanned signature of size 200×60. to confirm registration.

Step 5: After application form is clear, you should take its printout and attach the following enclosures:

  • Proof of date of birth.
  • Other documents, if required.
  • Reserved category certificate.
  • Provisional degree in case you have passed graduation
  • 12th class passing certificate. Meanwhile, your application form will be saved.

    Step 4: You can come back to your Application using the Unique Reference number, and enter the details such as the method of payment, date of payment, the amount paid, etc. To make payments offline, you can download and take a print of the challan and make payment at the nearest SBI bank. For online, you can pay at State Bank Collect - A Multi-Modal Payment Portal. Studying aspirants required to offer it during counseling.

Step 6: You should put all documents into an envelope and send to the following address:

After applying, you will get a Unique Reference number.

Step 3: After filling the application form with individual details like mobile number and email id for periodical intimidation, you can make payments (Rs. 1000 for General category, Rs. 700 for reserved category) either online or offline.


Selection Procedure of IMU (Indian Maritime University) B.Sc., B.Tech. and MBA Admissions 2018

You will be selected on the basis of Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) organizeed by the University and then after those who are selected will be called for counseling or GD or PI as per the course applied.

Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET):

There will be various CETs for various programmes. The exam will be Computer-based or online.   

  • One CET common to the 2 M.Tech programmes: The questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Mathematics and Engineering..
  • One CET common to all Under Graduate programmes: The question paper will include of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude questions at Plus 2 level (CBSE, ISE and State Boards).
  • CET for LLM (Maritime Laws): The questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude and General Laws.
  • One CET common to the 2 MBA programmes: The questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Financial Accounting, Economics, Maritime Affairs, and Mathematics at Under Graduate level. The paper will have multiple choice type questions based on class 12th syllabus with a total of 180 questions for 3 hours.

Note: If you are shortlisted based on CET scores, you will be called for Counseling at designated IMU Campuses and will involve verification of original mark sheets and certificates, physical fitness competence, and allocation of seats in the IMU Campuses or Affiliated Institutes

They will all consist of only one paper.
