IIT Patna provides courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. The period of B.Tech program is four years. It is a full time undergraduate degree. Eligibility Criteria for IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Patna B.Tech Admission 2018

BE/B.Tech

The eligibility criteria for admission to B.Tech program is prescribed by the institute. The clear eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

  • Participants should have been born on or after October 1, 1992.
  • There is the relaxation of five years for reserved category aspirants SC, ST and PwD. Aspirants should have been born on or after October 1, 1987.
  • Aspirants must have passed class 12 in relevant stream from a well-recognised board.
  • Students required to score minimum 50% marks in class 12 to be applicable to the program.


JEE Advanced Registration Procedure 2018

BE/B.Tech

Aspirants who have successfully qualify JEE Main and obtain rank in top 2, 20000 are only applicable to apply for JEE Advanced. The amount of application fee can be paid in online as well as offline mode. It is a national level test which is organizeed for B.E/ B.Tech admissions into 23 IITs.

Steps to Apply Online:

  1. Visit the official website of JEE Advanced i.e. jeeadv.ac.in
  2. Enter your JEE Main roll number and date of birth
  3. Fill the JEE Advanced registration form
  4. Upload all the need documents
  5. Pay application fee
  6. Recheck your details and save the application form

JEE Advanced Exam Format

The exam is held in offline method (pen and paper-based). All the information regarding exam will be sent by email.

At the time of application form submission, aspirants have to pay an application fee of INR 1200. The last date of application form submission (without late fee) is May 02, 2018. The exam format varies for both papers.

Aspirants who wish to apply need to submit the application form on the official website of JEE Advanced i.e. www.jeeadv.ac.in. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted.

Students are advised to make sure that all the information which is mentioned on the application form should be accurate and verified with original documents.

Participants required to mention a valid email address or phone number on the application form. JEE Advanced 2018 is scheduled for May 21, 2018.

The registration is done in online method only. The question paper consists of three sections namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

The exam is divided into two parts- Paper 1 and Paper 2.

The selection is done on the basis of JEE Advanced score. Shortlisted aspirants on the basis of their JEE Advanced score need to go for document verification procedure.

JoSAA Tie Breaking Procedure

In case two or more aspirants have same aggregate marks, then the below-given tie-breaker criteria will be followed for determining the rank:

  • If still is a tie- the student who has scored more marks in Physics will get the high rank.
  • If two or more aspirant score equal rank than- aspirant obtained more marks in Mathematics will get preference.
  • If still is the tie- both aspirants will get the same rank.


Reservation Criteria of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Patna B.Tech Admission 2018

There are some seats reserved for reserved category aspirants SC/ ST in every department as per the rules of the Government of India. The reservation criteria as following below:

  • Persons with Disability (PwD) – 3% seats in each of OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC and ST category seats.
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course.

Some seats allotted for foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of a total number of seats in every course.


JOSAA (Joint Seat Allotment Authority) Counseling 2018

Aspirants who will successfully qualify JEE Advanced will participate in JoSAA counseling.  JOSAA (Joint Seat Allotment Authority) organizes counseling for aspirants who have successfully qualified JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced.

JOSAA organizes the seat allotment procedure for the academic programs provideed by 92 JEE Main Participating Institutes - IITs/ NITs/ ISM/ IIITs and other GFTIs for the academic year 2018. At the time of registration procedure, students have to fill their preferable institutes.

JOSAA allots the seats to aspirants on the basis of All India Rank secured in JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

Steps to Apply for JoSAA:

  1. Go to JOSAA website i.e. http://josaa.nic.in.
  2. Click on “Online Registering and Choice Filling”
  3. Log in with your JEE Main roll number and password
  4. Go to your profile and verify all the filled information
  5. Click on the link “Choices Available” to view the different programs available for you to choose
  6. Fill your choices and submit
  7. Take the print out for future reference

Students have to presents all the need documents original with photocopy at the time of counseling procedure. There are 6 rounds of JOSAA counseling.

To participate in JOSAA counseling, aspirants required to register themselves on JoSAA website. Here is the list of all the need documents.
