IISER Pune (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune) is a private institute. The institute provides admission in BS MS (Bachelor of Science + Master of Science), Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy), and Integrated Ph.D. (integrated Doctor of Philosophy). It is among the top institutes in India in the field of Science Education and Research.

BS MS is a five-year integrated course for 12th passed students with Science group. The first two years of the program are dedicated to the core course in basic sciences, the third and fourth years are dedicated to specialization in chosen science subjects and the fifth year comprises a research project.

IISER, Pune provides BS-MS program in five various streams such as:

  • Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Social Sciences and Humanities

Students who wish to apply can submit the application form on the official website of the institute i.e. www.iiserpune.ac.in. Participants have to pay an application fee of INR 1500 at the time of registration procedure (For SC/ ST INR 750).

The selection is done on the basis of entrance test score. Shortlisted aspirants will be considered for admission to BS-MS program in IISER, Pune.

50% of the total seats will be given to aspirants belonging to KVPY and JEE Advanced streams. The other half of the total seats will be available for SCB stream aspirants. The total seats available in BS-MS program is 1125.

IISER Pune BS-MS Eligibility Criteria

To seek admission to BS-MS program in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune, aspirants have to fulfill the clear eligibility criteria mentioned below:

For JEE Advanced Qualified

Aspirants must have passed class 12 examination with at least 75% aggregate marks in Science stream.

For KVPY Qualified

StreamEligibility Criteria
SAAspirants must have enrolled in class XI and they must have secured at least 80% aggregate marks (70% marks for reserved category aspirants) in class 10thexams with Mathematics and Science as main subjects.
SXAspirants must have enrolled in class 12thand secured an at least of 80% marks in class 10thexaminations. They must acquire at least 60% aggregate marks (50% marks for reserved category aspirants) in class 12th examinations before availing the fellowship.
SBspirants must have enrolled in the 1stYear of any Under Graduate course in Science stream and they must have secured an at least of 60% marks (50% for reserved category) in Science subjects (PCB) in 10+2 examinations. They must secure 60% (50% for reserved category) marks in the 1styear final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math. /Int. M.Sc./ B.Stat./M.S. course.

For SCB (State and Central Board)

A cut off list will be announced for aspirants who have applied via this category, such aspirants will need to secure marks equal to or above the cut off marks in class 12 examination.

There is a relaxation of 5% marks for OBC and PwD category aspirants. Participants belonging to SC/ ST category required 55% marks to be applicable to admission procedure.

IISER Pune BS-MS Application Process

The registration is done in online mode. Students who wish to apply can submit the application form on the official website of the institute i.e. www.iiserpune.ac.in. Applications received after the due date will not be entertained.

It is aspirant’s responsibility to make sure that all the information which is mentioned on the application form must be accurate and similar to the information of original documents.

Participants required to mention a valid email address or phone number on the application form. All the information regarding admission procedure will be sent by email only.

Students have to pay an application fee of INR 1500 at the time of registration procedure. It can be paid in online method via net banking, credit card, and debit card (For SC/ ST INR 750).

Steps to Apply:

  1. Visit the official website i.e. www.iiserpune.ac.in.
  2. Click on the link “Admission”
  3. Register by using your email id and password
  4. Login after the confirmation of email
  5. Fill the application form with all the need information
  6. Upload the scan copy of signature and photograph
  7. The image size should be less than 50K
  8. Verify all the information and save the application form
  9. Pay application fee either of the available mode
  10. Take the print out of application form for future reference

IISER Pune BS-MS Selection Procedure

The selection is done on the basis of JEE Advanced/ KVPY score. Those applying via SCB stream will have to appear for IISER Aptitude Test mandatorily.

Shortlisted aspirants on the basis of their entrance test score need to go for document verification procedure. Participant has to bring their all the required documents original along with photocopy at the document verification center. 

IISER Aptitude Test:

  • Students have to attempt all the questions in the period of 180 minutes.
  • The paper includes questions from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics, Each section carries 15 questions.
  • Three marks are honored for every accurate response and one mark deducts for each inaccurate answer.
  • The question paper consists of total 60 questions. All the questions will be in MCQ pattern (Multiple Choice Questions).

KVPY

KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is a national exam. The exam is held in online (computer-based test) as well as offline mode (pen and paper-based).

The exam has two sections Part I and Part II with a total weight of 100 marks. The question paper will be in both English and Hindi. Students will get the duration of three hours to attempt all the questions

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is a national level exam organized for B.E/ B.Tech admissions into 23 IITs. The paper is held in offline mode (pen and paper-based).

Students must have qualify JEE Main to be eligible for JEE Advanced. The exam is held in two papers- paper 1 and paper 2. The questions in JEE Advanced will be asked from subjects as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates have to attempt all the questions in the duration of three hours.
