Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is widely regarded as India's finest institution in the field of sciences and has been ranked at number 11 and 18 worldwide (and ranked 3rd and 6th in Asia). IISc has been ranked number 1 and 4 in the BRICS and Asian region respectively while considering the criteria of Papers per Faculty in 2015. IISc has also been ranked 6th in the criteria of research by the Times Higher Education Rankings for the BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2016 IISc has made a significant contribution to advanced computing, space, and nuclear technologies.
The notification for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national dailies normally on the [Technology Day] (May 11) and the Second Sunday of July every year. Selection to the BS program at IISc is done on the basis of marks secured in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam / IIT mains/ IIT advanced/ AIPMT.
Depending on their performance in national examinations such as KVPY, IITJEE (Main and Advanced), and AIPMT, students will be able to avail themselves of the standard fellowships provideed by agencies such as KVPY and DST-INSPIRE.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (BS): The 4year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme is conducted in eight semesters. The final semester is devoted exclusively to a research project.

NOTE: The application fee is Rs.500/- for GN/OBC/KM aspirants and Rs.250/- for SC/ST/PH categories.
The merit list is based on 75% weight-age for Aptitude Test marks and 25% weight-age for the interview marks in the streams SA, SB and SX.
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically-Handicapped (PH) and Kashmiri-Migrant (KM) aspirants: As per Government of India regulations, and following the National List.
