Indian Institute of Management, Indore or IIM Indore, is one of the premier management institutes in India. CAT is a national level entrance exam, organizeed for selection of aspirants for admission to 19 IIMs and about 150 other B-Schools. The institute takes admission to its PGP or PG Program in management via CAT.

To apply for admission to the PGP management program at IIM Indore, via CAT, an aspirant must be a graduate in any branch with an at least of 50% marks from a recognised university in India. For foreign aspirants, a valid score in GMAT is needed.

The Institute will base its selection criteria on three main factors:

  1. The percentile score in CAT 
  2. Academic Writing Test
  3. Individual Interview

Apart from these selection criteria, the institute also considers an aspirant’s past academic record, work experience, and extra-curricular activities.

The application procedure for 2019 academic year is going on and an aspirant can register themselves via the registration portal on official CAT website.

Eligibility Criteria for IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Indore PGDM Admission 2018

PG Programme in Management [PGPM]

  • The basic eligibility criteria for admission to IIM Indore, via CAT, is a graduate degree in any branch from a recognised university in India. However, the institute will verify their eligibility on different stages of the selection procedure.
  • In case of foreign/overseas aspirants, the common eligibility is similar to Indian aspirants. The scores of GMAT exam taken during the duration A only will be considered.
For general aspirants, the at least percentage need in graduation is 50%, while for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Differently Abled (DA) aspirants, the at least need percentage in graduation is 45%.
  • In case of a University, which follows the grade or CGPA system, the percentage will be calculated on the basis of the process followed by the respective University, from where a participant has finished/is studying their graduation degree.
  • In case the University does not have a system for conversion of grades to a percentage, then the equivalent percentage will be calculated by dividing the CGPA by the maximum CGPA that can be attained and multiplying the result by 100.
  • Aspirants in the final year/semester of their undergraduate program can also apply. However, such aspirants must also have a valid GMAT score with an at least overall score of 700.

    There is a common application procedure for all the IIMs. During form filling, it is necessary that an aspirant select the programs provideed at IIM Indore and corresponding interview city in order to get a call from the institute.

    The application fee for CAT is 1700 INR for General/NC-OBC aspirant and 850 INR for SC/ST/DA aspirants. Aspirants have to apply via the CAT official website. The application procedure is clear only after successful payment of application fee.

    In case of foreign/overseas/NRI aspirants, they required to send a filled-in copy of downloaded application form along with the following enclosures:

    1. Finished Application Form (Downloaded from the website)
    2. A copy of attested latest GMAT score
    3. A copy of the latest TOEFL score if the medium of instruction is not English
    4. Three letters of recommendation from a competent authority
    5. A statement of purpose
    6. Attested photocopy of passport
    7. A non-refundable application-procedures fee of US $100 drawn in favour of Indian Institute of Management, Indore and payable at Indore
    At first, an aspirant will have to register on the CAT website using the following details:

    • Mobile number
    • Email id
    • Date of Birth as on official documents
    • Name

    After Registration, an aspirant will receive a login id and password which shall be used to fill the form.

    The selection procedure for IIM Indore is a three-step procedure. The actual cutoff may be higher.

    Shortlisting for WAT and PI

    The second stage in Selection Procedure is WAT (Written Ability Test) and PI (Individual Interview). The sectional and overall cutoff considered by IIM Indore is given below: The first stage of the selection is based on performance in CAT exam. The institute will award composite scores to each aspirant which is the basis for shortlisting of aspirants for WAT and PI.

    However, the cutoff mentioned above is only at least cutoff percentile. IIM Indore organizes the WAT and PI rounds in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai only.

    The aspirants who fulfil the overall and sectional cutoff criteria will only be considered for shortlisting for the WAT and PI round. The formula for Final Composite Score as followed by IIM Indore is given below:

    Normalization is a procedure which every IIM follows to offer equal opportunity to aspirants who might be at the receiving end because of the diversity in a scoring procedure of schools, universities, and education boards across the country.

    An aspirant needs to attend both WAT and PI rounds and must obtain at least qualifying marks in different criteria or parameters which are set by the selection committee of IIM Indore.

    Final Selection for Admission to IIM Indore

    Aspirants who fulfil the common eligibility criteria laid down by the CAT authorities, and qualify the stages mentioned above are considered for admission to the PGP Management program at IIM Indore.

    The Final Composite Score for each aspirant is prepared based on the following factors:

    • X standard or Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination marks
    • WAT score
    • Bachelor degree score
    • PI score
    • XII standard or High School Certificate (HSC) Examination marks

    IIM Indore announces category-wise merit list based on the Final Composite Score of participants. IIM Indore shortlists aspirants on the basis of overall and sectional marks scored in the CAT exam.


    Reservation of IIM Indore PGDM Admission 2018

    IIM Indore follows the reservation norms set by the Government of India. The category-wise seat reservation is given in the table below:

    In addition to the seat reservation for the categories mentioned above, the Institute also has 3% seats reserved for the Differently Abled aspirants. The three categories of disabilities which are considered for reservation are:

    1. Low-vision/blindness
    2. Hearing impairment
    3. Locomotor disability/cerebral palsy

    Aspirants applying for the seats reserved for differently abled aspirants must be suffering from any of the disabilities mentioned above to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a medical authority.
