International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) is a deemed university which aims to contribute to research and innovation in the field of technology. The university is known to have collaborations with IT industry, foreign institutes and eminent scientists to offer all-round education and opportunities in the field of science and technology.
Among the research programs, the University provides PhD and MS via research in seven various branches. IIIT-B has also launched a new academic programme, M.Sc. (Digital Society) in July 2015, which is positioned at the intersection of a masters in social science and masters in information technology. This is a 2 year (4 Semester Course), and the batch capacity for this course is around 30.
IIITB organizes the application procedure in the online mode. Aspirants ready to apply to the university can fill the application form on the official website. While the application procedure for M.Sc. course is organizeed in January, the application procedure for PhD and MS is organizeed in September.

An aspirant must have a four-year Bachelors degree in engineering (B.E., B.Tech. or equivalent) and a Masters degree in engineering (M.E., M.Tech. or equivalent) in concerned branches.
An aspirant must have a Master’s degree in engineering (M.Tech., M.E. or equivalent) or a Master’s degree in Mathematics is needed.
The aspirant must have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in engineering, social sciences, medicine, or public health, are a need for MSR and PHD programs, respectively.
The at least qualification need is an M.Sc. in Physics and Chemistry, respectively, or a Master’s degree (Master of Science by Research., M.E., M.Tech.

At the admissions website, http://www.iiitb.ac.in/admissions-new, you shall find instructions, to reach the online application form, fill it, and submit a finished application form as per the instructions are given on the form. You required paying a non-refundable application fee of INR 1000/- as per the instructions for Master of Science by Research/ Master of Science (Research)/Ph.D. online applications.

Master of Science by Research/ Master of Science (Research)/PhD Admissions:
Master of Science in Digital Society.
Once your application is established in order, you will have to take a written examination at IIIT Bangalore that will test numerical/quantitative, analytical, and verbal abilities, as well as design, social, and information technology awareness.
Once you have qualified for your entrance exam you required appearing for an individual interview at IIIT Bangalore, completing which you shall be called for final counseling.
The University accepts GATE/GRE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF/JEST scores for admission to MS and PhD programs. Your selection will be based on GATE/GRE score and other application details followed by an interview. The respective selection criteria for each branch is given below: In certain specific circumstances, IIIT-B may organize its own entrance exam.
Computer Science: You should have a valid GATE score of minimum 600 if you are looking to apply for Master of Science by Research/ Master of Science (Research). Your selection will be based on GATE/GRE score and other application details followed by an interview.
Networking, Communications & Signal Procedures: You are advised to take GATE or GRE examination for this course, however, exceptional participants without a GATE or GRE score may need to take a written examination or an oral examination at IIITB, as decided by the faculty in the domain.
Software Engineering: You required to have a GATE or GRE score taken in the last five years, however, if you have an appropriate industrial or academic experience and credentials, you may apply without competitive exam (GATE/GRE) scores. Those without such a score may apply as well.
Data Sciences: If you are interested in applying for Master of Science by Research/ Master of Science (Research) in Data Science, you required to take one of the following examinations:
GATE examination for Computer Science.
A 45-minute written examination organizeed by the research domain at IIITB exclusively for participants in Data Sciences. Your selection will be based on GATE score and other application details followed by an interview.
Electronic Systems Design: You required to have a GATE or GRE score taken in the last five years. This requirement is however waived for aspirants with a Master’s degree in Engineering.
For participants in IT & Society: You are suggested to offer a valid score in GATE, JRF, NET, GRE, or GMAT along with your applications. If you have a strong industry experience a preference shall be given to you.
For participants in Physics and Chemistry: You must have appeared and qualified in a national entrance test (CSIR-UGC NET, UGC-NET, or JEST examination).
