The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is an autonomous public Business school and a deemed University founded in 1963 by the Government of India (Ministry of Commerce and Industry). The university is UGC recognized which aims at helping and professionalizing the country's foreign trade management and increasing exports of the country.

It is the only institute among the top-10 business schools of India that provides International Business program. The university invites applications for qualified aspirants for admission to six-trimester Full-Time MBA (IB) Programme at New Delhi and Kolkata Campuses, academic year.

Aspirants with the Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years in any branch can register for the MBA programme. Seats are reserved as per Government rules. The reservations are subject to aspirants meeting the admission requirement of the Institute under various categories. 49.5% seats are reserved for the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/NRI etc.

The qualified contenders, can register themselves offline or online via the university website and submit the application form (online or offline) along with need documents and procedure fee.

Aspirants are selected for MBA programme on the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing, and Interview. The aspirants qualifying written test shall be called for the subsequent phase of selection procedure comprising Group Discussion, Essay Writing, and Interview.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Participants who have passed recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years in any branch are qualified for admission.
  • Aspirants from India need to qualify in the Entrance test organized by the University itself whereas for  foreign aspirants GMAT score is considered
  • Aspirants can apply on a provisional basis if he/she is appearing in the final year examination of Graduation /has result awaited. Such aspirant must submit proof of requisite qualification which otherwise may lead to the cancellation of their admission.
  • Aspirants from India and foreign countries are qualified for admission.
  • There are no age limit criteria imposed on the candidate aspiring for admission

Application Procedure

The aspirants can apply for admissions by filling and submitting the complete application form along with the need amount of procedure fee and important documents. 108, Borough XII, Kolkata-700107. An aspirant can apply either online or offline The Brochure and Application Form may be obtained by sending the Demand draft of the need amount to the latter.

Offline mode:

The application form may be collected on payment of INR 1550/- (INR 775/- for SC/ST/PH aspirants and INR 4500/- for Foreign Nationals/NRIs/Children of NRIs) in cash personally from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi-110016 OR 1583 Madhurdaha, Ward No. The aspirant must write his/her name and address on the back of the Demand Draft

Online mode:

The aspirants can also obtain the application form by visiting IIFT website at www.iift.edu. Click on the Admission icon and fill in the online form as per details are given in the website.

Important steps for filling in the application form:

  1. Fill the application form manually with the necessary information
  2. Enclose the application form with the important documents.
  3.  Duly filled in application forms must be sent to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, and New Delhi-110016 so as to access IIFT.
  4. The aspirant must keep the Xerox copy of the finished applications for subsequent use

The aspirant must send/submit the photo affixed and duly signed the application and the following copies of following documents:

  1. Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC) allowed by the competent authority- if need
  2. Certificates for Special categories( physically challenged),  allowed by valid /competent authority-if need  
  3. Demand draft  of Rs.1550/- (Rs.775/- for SC/ST/PH aspirants and Rs.4500/- for Foreign Nationals/NRIs/Children of NRIs) – in case of online application form  

Admission Procedure

IIFT shall select the aspirants on the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing, and Interview. The university shall take the written test. Based on which, he /she shall be called for subsequent selection phases. The performance of the aspirant in the written test shall decide the merit of the aspirant.

The final selection of the aspirant will be on the overall performance in all the selection phases which comprise Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing, and Interview.

The IIFT Admission Test shall be based on multiple choice objective type written test (in English) based on English Comprehension, General Knowledge and Awareness, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Analysis.

Reservation

Seats are reserved according to the policy of Government of India. 240 are situated in the Delhi campus and 60 at the Kolkata campus. IIFT has a total number of 300 seats for the next academic year.

Note

 Scholarships:

To facilitate the meritorious students with financial aid, the University has the provision of scholarships. The hostel rooms are spacious with a desk and chair for each aspirant. The university hostels come with its own luxuries such as mess, 24/7 availability of electricity, cool water, and Wi-Fi service. The University provides the following scholarships to the aspirants:

  • “Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for SC/ST Students”
  • Required Based Scholarship Scheme 
  • 1st five toppers each year are also given a scholarship of Rs. 50,000.
  • Educational loans shall be offered to the financially weak aspirants on minimum interest and no guarantee.

Hostel:

IIFT offers separate hostel facility for boys and girls in both the campuses. There is number Of Banks tied up with IIFT that provide educational loans to the Students at a moderate rate of interest. There is an attached bathroom for every room as well.
