IIEST [Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology] formerly known as Bengal Engineering and Science University, was founded in 1856 and has since offered higher education in Engineering, Science, and Technology. The Institute has gained the status of Institute of National Importance 2014. 

From the academic session 2014-15, IIEST introduced a five-year dual degree program. Institute also provides a five-year B.Arch. program with other higher degrees program.

The Integrated Dual Degree program and B.Arch. the program, both the programs are five-year long. The institution provides a dual degree in nine Engineering departments and all the selections are solely done on the basis of ranks obtained by students in JEE Mains. Paper 1 for admission in dual degree while, Paper 2 for admission in B.Arch.

Even though the Institution admits students through the ranks obtained in JEE Mains by the students, the Institute still reserves fifty percent of the total seats for students from Bengal. The admissions are sorted via a counseling process. The applications for JEE Mains generally go live in early December while the paper itself is organized in early April. The cut-offs vary from course to course.

The institution provides hostel accommodations for most of its Undergraduate students, especially girls.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Architecture [B. Arch], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] + Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Civil Engineering) & Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] + Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Electrical Engineering)

All the students must have passed higher secondary school (10+2 level) from a recognized University or Council. A student can appear for JEE Mains only thrice.

The students must have also taken five subjects in Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam. The five subjects should comprise Physics, Mathematics, One language, Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology, and any other fifth subject. Students whose birthdate fall on or after October 1, 1992, will be able to appear for JEE Mains. 

For JEE Mains paper 2, a student must have Mathematics as one of the five mandatory subjects in Higher Secondary Examination. 

IIEST Application Procedure

The application can be easily filled online at www.jeemain.nic.in (official website of JEE Mains). Images are uploaded to the student’s photograph, signature, and left thumb impression in JPost Graduate pattern. The examination fee is paid and a print out of confirmation page is safely kept for future reference.

IIEST Selection Procedure 2018

Bachelor of Architecture [B.Arch] , Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] + Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Civil Engineering) & Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] + Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Electrical Engineering)

The selection for an integrated B.Tech. All the details are to be filled and counseling payment has to be made. Choice filling and locking should be done before the deadline too.

The choices are generally made in July after which seat allocations are done based on student’s AIR (All India Rank) as well as choices.

The rank lists for JEE Mains is prepared by taking 60% of JEE Main score and 40% of Higher Secondary Examination marks into account.

Step 1 Online Registration. All the colleges and courses should be selected cautiously. An account is created and the login credentials are offered.

Step 2 Online Choice filling and Locking.

The choice filling should be done cautiously by logging into the account created while registration for counseling.

Step 3 Seat Allocation and document verification.

Allocations are made finally on the basis of AIR, choices made and vacancies. or B.Arch. the program provided by IIEST is done via JoSAA Counselling.

For going via counseling, students required to register for the counseling process online. After being allotted with a seat, a student required to pay fees and should make sure to get all the documents verified for getting admission.

Documents require for counseling:

  • Migration Certificate.
  • Category Certificate (If applicable).
  • A copy of the Confirmation Page.
  • JEE Main Rank Card.
  • Class 10th and 12th Mark sheet.
  • Passport size photographs.
  • Character Certificate.
  • JEE Main Hall Ticket.
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable).

Reservation Criteria of IIEST

50% of the available seats are reserved for students from Bengal. Other than that following reservations are applicable for IIEST dual degree and B.Arch. admissions
