Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul provides Ph.D. in 27 branches in total in different fields of arts and science. The institute education system is designed in order to promote rural development and hence, education in the rural area.
Admissions to the Ph.D. program at GRI are organizeed twice in a year, the first releasement comes in the month of January while the other one comes in August. Admission to the institute is made on the basis of entrance test organizeed by the institute. Admission is open to all Indian and foreign students satisfying the eligibility criteria.
Ph.D. program at GRI is provideed in two modes: Full-time and part-time. Aspirants applying for part-time Ph.D. program should have an at least of 5 years of experience at the time of registration.

Aspirants (Indian / Foreigner) who have studied under 10+2+3+2 years format or Equivalent and qualified for the award of the Masterβs Degree in relevant branch by any university recognised by the UGC in relevant branch with not less than 55% marks (50% for SC/ST and part-time non-teacher aspirants) or an equivalent grade are applicable.
In addition, he/she should have qualified the entrance test organizeed by GRI OR should have obtained M.Phil. or qualified the UGC - JRF / NET / SLET / lecturer-ship / GATE / CSIR / ICAR / ICSSR or other fellowships or passed equivalent examinations

Admissions to the Ph.D. program at GRI are made on the basis of an entrance test organizeed by the institute. Aspirants shortlisted from the entrance test will be called for an interview.
