Goa University MA and M.Com Admissions 2018

Goa University founded in 1985 grades a university as reaccredited by NAAC. It is the only university in the State of Goa and has 68 affiliated colleges. Goa University imparts high-quality education in different professional and non-professional programmes.T he University provides admission to the following programs for the year.

  • Master of Commerce(M.Com)
  • Master of library science(M.Lib.sc)
  • Master of Arts(M.A)

Only aspirants with the relevant qualifying degree can register for the above mentioned Post Graduate programmes. Seats are reserved for people belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST and OBC 

Aspirants can register for admission by filling in the online application form and submitting the need procedures fee within the stipulated time. Admission to the programmes will be done on the basis of marks secured by the aspirants in the qualifying degree examination/entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Aspirants should possess any bachelor’s degree/any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto. The minimum aggregate of marks at graduation level need for aspirants is 40%


  • The aspirant should have hold of a bachelor’s degree in the faculty of commerce/should have passed an examination recognized as equivalent thereto. The minimum aggregate of marks at graduation level need for aspirants is 40%

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib]

  • The aspirant should be a graduate in any one of the following streams - Languages & Literature, Social Sciences, Commerce, Natural Sciences, Life Sciences & Environment, Engineering, and Medicine from a recognized university The minimum aggregate of marks at the graduation level is 40%

Step to Apply

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib] , MA & M.Com

  • Aspirants can download the related application form available at the official university website and fill in all the relevant fields with the necessary details
  • Along with duly filled-in applications, the aspirant must also submit the need application fee via demand draft (DD) drawn in favor of “Director of Technical Education” and payable at Panaji, Goa.
  • Aspirants have to pay Rs.400/- to apply for any of the above mentioned Post Graduate programmes. In case of Entrance Test, wherever applicable, the aspirants must pay an additional amount of Rs.300/-
  • The aspirant must send finished applications along with all the attested copies of the documents to the following address:

  1. Two recent, identical passport size photographs
  2. Graduate mark sheets
  3. Birth Certificate from Competent Authority.
  4. Caste certificate
  5. ‘Bonafide student’ certificate (if applicable)
  6. Leaving/Transfer certificate from school or college last attended
  7. ‘Certificate of Income’ in original allowed by Panchayat
  8. Non-Migrant Caste Certificate
  9. Physically Handicapped Certificate (if applicable)
  10. OCI /PIO Card /document allowed by the Competent Authority for NRI aspirants.
  11. A certified copy of the passport as proof of being an Indian Citizen
In case an aspirant decides to apply for more than one Post Graduate programme, he/she has to pay additional Rs.100/- for each.

Admission Procedure

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib] , MA & M.Com

  • Admission to MA in Economics and M.Lib.I.Sc. will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance test 
  • Aspirants will be selected for the M.Com and MA programmes (Except MA in Economics) on the basis of their marks in the qualifying degree examination/ entrance examination.

Reservation Criteria

Selection shall be made as per the rules of reservation of the Government of India/Goa for the following various categories:

  1. Backward Class – 27% of total seats
  2. Scheduled Caste - 2% of total seats
  3. Scheduled Tribe – 12% of total seats
  4. Differently Abled 3% of total seats
  5. Aspirants of other Indian universities -10% of total seats
  6. Wards of Ex-serviceman – 1% of total seats
