Founded in 1980 GITAM (Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management) is a private University which was titled as a deemed University in 2007. The university provides 109 programs at an undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctoral level in different branches such as Technology, Pharmacy, Science, Management, International Business, Architecture, and Law.

The university provides Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) course at the research level in the following 2 branches:

  • Management (FT/PT)
  • Technology

Only aspirants with the relevant qualifying degree are qualified to apply for the doctoral courses provided by GITAM. Selection of the aspirants will be done on the basis of their performance in the written test and personal interview, both organized by the university itself.

 

For admission to Ph.D. programmes, aspirants can register themselves by submitting duly filled-in applications along with the procedure fee via demand draft (DD). The application fee for Ph.D. in Management and Ph.D. in Technology is Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 1000/- respectively.

Eligibility

  • The aspirant must possess a post-graduate degree from this university or any other recognized university with at least 55% aggregate of marks (open category aspirants) and 50% marks (for SC/ST category aspirants)
  • Aspirants can apply for full time or part time Ph.D. programme on the basis of marks secured in the university entrance test (GRAT) and personal interview, also organized by the university.

  • Aspirants can download the application form available at the official GITAM website. Application forms can also be obtained from any discipline of Union Bank of India throughout the country
  • Aspirants can register themselves by submitting the finished applications, along with the procedures fee amount of Rs. 1000/- (for male aspirants) and Rs. 600/- (for female aspirants) via DD. The application fee for admission to Ph.D. in Management (FT/PT) is INR 3000.
  • Aspirants can also obtain application form by post from Director-Admissions by sending a request letter containing the aspirant’s name, along with the complete mailing address and demand draft (DD) of INR 150. DD should be drawn in favor of ‘GITAM University’ and payable at Visakhapatnam
  • The aspirant should send the duly filled-in applications, along with all the attested documents and DD, to the following address:

Enclosures:

  1. Provisional Certificates / Original Degrees of qualifying examinations.
  2. Date of Birth Certificate (SSC/Matriculation or equivalent Certificate)
  3. Statement of marks in qualifying examinations.
  4. Transfer and Organize Certificate from the Institution where he/she last studied.
  5. Migration Certificate in case of aspirants from other than GITAM.
  6. Certificate in case of aspirants belonging to SC/ST/Differently abled.
  7. Three attested copies of the latest passport size photos.
  8. Service and No objection certificates from the employer for part-time aspirants.
  9. A brief note on the topic of research with objectives, methodology, significance, references etc.

Admission Procedure

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Management

Selection of the aspirant to the Ph.D. programme is done on the basis of his/her performance in GITAM Research Aptitude Test (GRAT) and personal interview, organized by University.

Selection Procedure 

The list of all eligible aspirants amongst the aspirants who apply for Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. Program and direct Ph.D. The program will be displayed on the Institute website on 27th January 2018 

The eligible aspirants will be invited for the Written Test (Research Aptitude Test - RAT) to be held at all the TISS Campuses on 9th February 2018. aspirants can opt to take the RAT at any of the campuses 

The model paper and rules for the Research Aptitude Test (RAT) along with the guidelines for shortlisting will be put up on the TISS website through early January 2018 

aspirants who have cleared JRF, GATE and other relevant exams are also expected to attend the Written Test and Personal Interview* 

Apart from the fulfillment of academic criteria, the shortlisting of aspirants for the Personal Interviews for Integrated MPhil-PhD program and direct Ph.D. program will be linked to the statement of purpose/research proposal and the domain expertise available at the Schools /Centre 

aspirants with visual impairment will have to indicate the impairment in the application form. They will be offered with a writer for the written test 

The final selection process will be completed by mid-May and the final list of aspirants and relevant information will be uploaded on the TISS website
