Method of Application
Ph.D. programme is designed for those students who have the aspiration to hold a complete knowledge in the research field. Institute gives preference to interview for selection, testing the research proposal prepared by aspirants. GIPE offers admission to deserving aspirants via an entrance test, although this entrance test is waived for aspirants holding M.Phil degree or having 10 years of experience in the relevant field.
Application form can be downloaded from the University website and must be sent to the Director of related department. Admission test is to be organized in the month of January and number of seats for which admissions are done is a matter of availability of research guides in the Institute. Merit list is prepared on the basis of performance of aspirants in the entrance test, if not exempted. The inclusion of name in the merit list is not sufficient to prove the validity of selection; aspirants need to appear in an interview to complete the selection procedure.

Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: Aspirants need to have done Masters Degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% marks for reserved category) from a recognized University to get admission in a Ph.D. programme.
NOTE: Aspirants are not allowed to submit the thesis before completion of 2 years. Although in the special case, as per the recommendation of the research committee, the thesis would be considered before 2 years.

Admission to the Ph.D. programme is made on the basis of an entrance test organized annually as per the availability of seats. Those candidates who have successfully qualified the entrance test will have to appear for an interview to discuss their research proposal.
NOTE: Seats are reserved as per the rules of Government of Maharashtra, according to which 50% of seats are for reserved category and rest is for open category. If seats in the reserved category are unoccupied then they will be transferred to candidates belonging to open category.
